Thanks akdavis.

Yes i'm afraid you are right, this can't be done. Playing with map_H would provide just some pyramids with too angular shape. it's too small for the 3d engine...
But maybe it could be produced as 3d objects via 3dsmax but this is something i don't know how to do...maybe a job for fabianfred who provided the suribachi mount for my repaint of Iwo Jima...

Those islands look like 'Chiapets' if anyone's familiar with those Tongue

Good work on map_c Avala...it really gives a relief feeling when flying over corals...the effect is better now i customized bump textures for coral. i still have to test what you suggested for sand. feedback soon

Snake effect for tiny islands is perfect !!.

BTW bump textures for Kyushu are coming soon..update this week end.

You know what guys ????....you will not recognize the stock map  . i suggest you fly it a last time and then...bye bye

Shaping up to be very beautiful. Is there any way to avoid all the surf breaking inside the lagoons (i.e. inside areas protected by the barrier reefs)? Most of this water should be shallow and still. Also, shallow areas seem to be going from blue to white with very little green in between, but maybe this is because of the surf? Clear water plus sunlight gives you a very true deep blue transitioning by depth and bottom reflectivity to pure green and even yellow/orange/red within a few feet of the surface (barely submerged living coral reefs often appear as a vivid brown-yellow to brown-red). In general, I would encourage not overly desaturating ocean colors. The ocean is one of those places in nature where you get very true and vidid colors under most conditions.

(that's living coral, not land)

Here's a great example of saturation. Note that the green is not overly saturated and is very much in line with your vegetation colors, yet the water has very vivid colors.

Same image with saturation increased 100%. Water hardly changes, but the vegetation now looks "postcard" green.

Anyways, hope that is constructive.

Hum a v1 tonight i think.

Thanks for pics akdavis. i tryed to paint on map_c what you see on the 2 last pics, you know, the clear cercle around the tiny island and around another circle with black spots.

the problem is map_c resolution is not enough to have such details Sad . at least we would need a second texture for coral...well will try again.

Anyway guys a V1 is never perfect, that why is always use term V1 for the first release of a new repainted map. improvements are always possible...with you help guys.

Avala, do you have another multilayer system for trees but this time with pacific trees ?? :???:

Hmm, it's always nice to have a variety...maybe for his BETA version...? The textures on his maps are the great pnes by Compans, but I don't remember the textures being completely painted on. You could do some epic work on that Tongue

Everything that can be done actually is just recombining of the layers of the existing forest presets. Problem is that none of them looks like jungle and “Jungle” that is in the game is too bright. I have tried few combinations with your Palau textures, but nothing is good, mostly because “in stock” forest layers are too bright and too oversaturated. So, I am afraid that I don’t have solution for that.

Maybe to leave it totally without the layered forests? Or just leave some small area if they must be on the map, maybe "sk_Wood", that is dark enough?

"Snake effect" Tongue Big Grin
