Be subtle.
Post a dogfigth screenshot in the screenshot thread---from the cockpit, but use a nice repaint.
Or a shot over an improved map (no comments, it's just another screenshot).

For your viewing pleasure. Needed to look around without a cursor for a while.

that bottom one has lovely greenery colours and texture...
a good screenshot to post at Ubi would be one with one of our Unique airstrips so viewers would KNOW it wasn't from any map that came with the game

The prototypes first flight was on 20 September 1943. Ironically the first Vampire flight had been delayed because the sole remaining engine was sent to Lockheed to replace one destroyed in ground engine runs in the prototype XP-80. Bloody Yanks! The production Vampire Mk I flew in April 1945. That was still considered WWII when I went to school, well PTO anyway. Still, the current version is a what if 1946 time frame isnt it? So why not the Vampire? Pilots who flew them that I spoke to have all said it was great to fly, and they preferred it to the Meteor.

Now Fred, planting the seeds of strife is bad. There's no need to antagonize them over there.
I look in at the forums at Ubi from time to time and I am disgusted by some of the holier-than-thou attitudes I see myself. I also marvel at the ignorance from some established and long term members. But that's a minority even there- you just see it more becasue it's easier to spot the same guy being a PITA a lot than it is to see a guy just minding his business all the time.
Personally I wish that Oleg could or would do something to comment on things like these maps. I don't know if he won't, or can't, but I know Oleg is in business, and part of business is keeping your trap shut about certain things even if personally, you either agree or disagree with those things- you just can't say a word sometimes or you risk your livelihood. I am sure however that Oleg is still interested in flight sims and that on some level, good Il2 maps are something he'd like to have
Some people in the community don't understand that, or they understand it but think that since they "love" Oleg, he needs to be accessible 24/7, as if Yahweh just got a cellphone plan with unlimited minutes. I know you're not one of them, I'm just saying- plenty of immature brats in the Il2 community, and many of them are vocal brats. What bugs me most is how many of them
choose to take offense.
Water off a duck's back my friend. It's hard, I know. Believe me. But you're above that sort of stuff

First time poster, long time reader.
I don't know how big the file is going to be but when The Slot becomes available, but is the download server going to be "robust" enough to handle all the traffic?
Even all the naysayers and their brothers over at Ubi will get it even if they say they want it or not. I plan on putting it on my page for all my squad to get and I'm willing to sacrifice some bandwidth and post a link here if there is a need.
Awesome job guys, I can't wait to load up a Corsair with drop tanks and fly from one end to the other.

BTW, think of the Slot as a donation pitch for the AAA site.

Has anybody tested this map for the memory bug? If you want I could test it.

I know I will donate for the hard work for this map. I know my squad will too. We are dying for this map.

Rebsix, the F4U-1 and -1A had a range of about 1000 miles on internal fuel, so with good engine management you can probably make it from Guadalcanal to Rabaul and back without external fuel. It will take you about 6 hours to make that flight.

Darn, they locked my thread.

I think you can thank Blitzpiglet for that. He probably PM'ed a whine to one of his favourite mods. My original post with regards to taking a game so seriously was a little harsher than what it is now...but I didnt want to be the cause of having that particular thread closed.
