This is my install and it works:
Mods\STD\com\maddox\il2\ai

I supose a lot of us are interested in this, but we need to be sure this mod result isn't a placebo effect.
Are you absolutely sure that the AI behaviour has changed?
Thanks in advance.

No doubt about it for me. It works.

fly_zo Wrote:according to filelist ( extractor) correct path is :
com/maddox/il2/ai/Shot.class
so in order for wrapper to load file you need to have :
Mods"whatever you like"\com\maddox\il2\ai\Shot.class
all other theories are just mambo-jumbo

Even if "whatever you like"= "STD". Right? I mean "Right!" cos it's working for me this way.

Thank you for your answers.
Only to clarify: Is this mod-link download in the first post of this thread? Is that all I need to try it? (Following your path instructions to install, of course).
Thanks again.

Wow! This AI is not the same AI as I had yesterday! It's just given me the time of my life! Before, they just flew up until they almost stopped and then dove again. Not now: Now they perform slow rolls and barrell-rolls as I hadn't seen for a long time, and they break where they did not break before. And I'm talking about Average AI. A placebo? If this is a placebo, I'm Barack Obama.

I agree. In combat I feel different abilities (better) from AI.
But in formation as AI partners I think the 3.04 behaviour is worse. They fly rude. They turn too much agressively. It's more difficult to stay in formation now.
I have found out they are more agressive in combat now too.
I need to get more experiencies testing this new AI.
Willy.

The path to install seems to differ. Why not install directly under MODS? Does MODS/STD do a better job? I guess I'm dense.... lol.

poncho Wrote:I tried to figure out whats what with this ai stuff. I made a folder with the hashed 4.x ai in the mods folder and one by one replaced the 4.x files with the 3.x files.
I was able to replace all of the files with 3.x files except for one, called manuever.class, when this was replaced the game locked up.
Two of the 3.04 replacements seemed to change ai behavior to me. Airgroup.class seemed to cause the missions to play out differently in ai vs ai QMB. Maybe this changes wingman behavior? The file that seemed to produce the biggest change was Pilot.class. This seemed to me to increase the aggressiveness of the ai pilots. The ai seemed not to use the roll maneuvre nearly as much. AI pilots were much more willing to play chicken in head on passes. I had a couple of head on collisions before I realized this.
All in all I am seeing some of the changes that have been reported, so I have to admit that it seems like Kowi's mod must somehow be doing something. I don't understand how. :?
@poncho: any news about your testing above?

What is that "shot.class" mentioned in the instructions? There is no such class in rar from the first topic message.
And "air" folder inside "ai" folder is not required or what?
Could somebody who got it working write a step-by-step instructions? Or, which is simplier, just upload the ready-to-use mod folder?
Tried installing it - seems that ai doesn't tend to perform barrel rolls anymore, but they still run to altitude and still are much worse in a turnfight than in 3.04.

More testing: AI is way too agressive sometimes. When he's on defensive, it's really good. But with his AI I find myself alone with 4 AIs targeting me all the time. and I mean "me or them", so they won't stop until I die or I shoot them down. OK, in real life there were such situations, but it makes the game arcadish...Can we mix the offensive of the 4.09AI with the defensive of the 3.04?
