I noticed the same thing with the bump but that was due to me full power + WEP caused the plane to throw left off (torque roll) the deck. It is more noticeable when you are heavy and can be virtually gone if you set your throttle to 80%-90% if the load will handle that low of throttle setting. Keep in mind the detaching from a real cat is like hitting a brick wall so I think it makes the cat more accurate in how it performs.
You are also correct that the Lex and Sara did not have a cat and therefore will not have one in this mod.
I will check tonight if Generic Carrier has it Fireball did fix the problem where catapult did not work on USS Princeton and USS Belleau Wood.
Catapult now adjusts its power based on total loaded weight of the aircraft. Adds optional CatapultBoost parameter for dogfight and single-player missions. I tested this MOD in a couple DF servers last night that had no wind and were standing still. The autoadjusting feature set the cat to what I felt was a perfect setting to launch.
WTG Fireball!! Again, what a GREAT addition to this sim!
After some more testing it will be posted, you guys are going love it!!!

Where did you dl those carrier's?
- VF-51_Cobraj - 10.03.2009
They are part of Shippack2 MOD here:
viewtopic.php?t=7580&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Includes San Jac and other ships.

Sorry Generic Carrier has no cat and could not be placed right now. I'll ask Fireball tonight but it is not likely because the carrier design even has arrest cables aft of the boat.

Question: Did The Saratoga ever have cats? Maybe added later in '43, '44?
- VF-51_Cobraj - 10.03.2009
The hangar decks of the turboelectric Lex and Sara were initially fitted with Norden-style flywheel catapults. Energy generated by electric motors was stored in six-ton flywheels and transmitted to the catapult through a cone-type friction clutch. The cable transmitting the power ran off a tapering drum, keeping acceleration as constant as possible to avoid giving pilot and plane too much of a jolt. These devices could launch 10,000-pound twin-float seaplanes at 55 mph, but clutching was a continuing problem for the fast-turning flywheels. The catapults were rarely used, and soon they were removed. Deck launches worked fine for the airplanes of the day, and few Navy officers seemed concerned about what would happen when carrier airplanes got a lot bigger, faster, and heavier.

An urgent problem facing naval aviation as World War II began was that planes were getting too big. The heavy carrier aircraft of the early 1940s could take off from the decks of 800-foot, 30-knot fleet carriers but not from the 500-foot decks of the far more numerous 19-knot escort or

unreal banana peel ... fantastic,, now how can I tweek it to get it launch at bomber launching speeds? lol
- VT-51_Razor - 10.03.2009
Boris, why would you want to use the generic carrier for Korean War scenarios when you've got the Essex class ships available?? With the catapult and a tail hook for the P-80, what would you want a Lex/Sara look alike for??

I installed the catapult mod and it launches aircraft perfectly. The problem is a massive frame rate hit when the mission launches. It takes almost a full minuteacting like a slide show before the game runs normal. I have changed the time of day to noon and made sure the weather is clear and I have the same problem. As soon as I disable the catapult mod in the mods folder my mission runs great from the start jut like it used to in perfect mode and all the graphics turned up so something in the mod is causing problems or conflicting with another mod. I pretty much have the latest unified mod installer with only the US gunsight mod for the P-39, the no fin mod for the P-51D-5NT, and National Insignia Mod to replace the incorrect US insignia that you get when selecting the Corsair MKI and USN or USMC for the air force and markings are turned on.
Taking off with 100% fuel and three external tanks was a piece of cake with the catapault mod. I do not use the wind mod. I think I had the spead of the ESSEX at 29 Knots.
My understanding is that Charles Lindberg (when he rotated through various USAAF, USN and USMC units) was the first corsair pilot to takeoff from an island field with 4000# load of bombs. I don't recall reading anywhere that the F4U-1D took off from flight decks with this bomb load, not even with rocket assist take off in WWII.
318thFG VIIFC P-47D's were launched from two US Carriers in the Pacific when ferried to the recently-liberated Aslito Airfield on Saipan June 26,1944, obviously a one way trip.
I would love to see the original generic US carrier (Lexington Class) replaced by a generic Essex Class Carrier.
In its present form the generic US carrier has no historical accuracy. It is simply a copy of the USS Saratoga in the game without SAR painted on the flight deck. Only two Lexington Class Carriers were built. Both started with four twin mounted 8" gun turrets fore and aft of the island structure. After the USS Saratoga, CV-3 was torpedoed in early 1942 she went to Washington State for repairs and the 8" guns were replaced by the four twin mount dual purpose 5" turrets that is modeled correctly in the game. USS Lexington, CV-2 kept her 8" guns during her early 1942 carrier raids, but in April 1942 she too had her 8" guns replaced, however, the replacement came in the form of four quad 1" AA batteries nicknamed "The Chicago Piano". This was the configuration that Lexington had when sunk at the Coral Sea. The Lexington version we have in the game is historically correct for pre-April 1942.

Mailman can you list your system specs. I'll have a look. I haven't noticed any frames drop other then the one you get from shippack. I have a higher end system so I guess maybe I we need to hear from others with FPS issues with this MOD not any MOD.
List what MODs you have installed too please and version. 4.09b1m? or 08?
ALso what are your FPS with and without Cat mod installed on the same mission and time.

Why is it that people will not be happy with the catapult fixed so it launches all the historic aircraft that happened in real life. Now the thread hijackers want to launch aircraft like the B29. We all know Oleg and/or his team bungled many of the aircraft so they will not launch some of the aircraft with bombs, missles, or the real life loadouts that they used in WWII. (best example is a Corsair with Full Weapons Loadout). The Catapult will help fix those huge screw-ups. Let this nice guy who created this mod make the correct aircraft work before you other guys go hog wild trying to launch submarines, skyscrapers, and Boeing 747's from these WWII carriers.
I can see if maybe the creator wants to to go a step further and make it so it will launch some Korean era jets and planes with the Catapult mod, but let him finish the WWII stuff first..
IMHO
thanx..
