I did all that you said with the Darwin map, and still get the Load.ini failed message.
I have UP2.0 and version 4.09M not the 4.09b
Does this map work with UP 2.0 and patch 4.09M?

Yes, it does. shift-tab and let me know what error message you receive. -viking

I pressed Shift plus Tab and got a whole page of small print errors, how do I copy this or save it to a file.
Here's the main paragraph on the bottom;
Internal Error: Can't open file 'MAPS/_Tex/land/summer/grand_canyon/Fields_compton1.tga
Internal Error: LoadTextureFromTga ('MAPS/_Tex/land/summer/grand_canyon/Fields_compton.tga
WARNING: Error:-Repeated six times
WARNING: TLandscape::LoadMap('VKG_Grand_Canyon/load.ini') errors in loading World.lan().LoadMap()error:java.lang.RuntimeException:Landscape'VKG_Grand_Canyon/load.ini' loading error 4
There isn't a land/summer folder in my _Tex folder in MAPS. I tried putting them in from the Darwin Map, and it still didn't work.
When I loaded UP 2.0 it just left the MODS folder with a STD file. I put a MapMod folder in the MODS Folder with the Benghalli map and just put Avalas textures in the _Tex floder. And it worked.
I even tried it with the summer, land and forest folder from the Darwin map put in the _Tex folder with grand_canyon tex folder in summer /land.
I did add the line to the all.ini on Up2.0 and the MODS folder with all Maps.

Well, there needs to be. The textures for the grand canyon map to load need to be in MODS\mapmods\Maps\_Tex\land\summer\grand_canyon\
The darwin forest textures need to be in MODS\mapmods\maps\_Tex\forest\summer\
If you don't have the darwin forest textures, open the load.ini file and change the following:
[WOOD]
Wood0 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood0.tga
Wood1 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood1.tga
Wood2 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood2.tga
Wood3 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood3.tga
Wood4 = forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood4.tga
for this:
[WOOD]
Wood0 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood0.tga
Wood1 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood1.tga
Wood2 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood2.tga
Wood3 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood3.tga
Wood4 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood4.tga

Thanks for the fast reply.
Do I need to take out all the textures from the Darwin_Small folder and place them in the MODS\mapmods\maps\_Tex\land\summer or do I just put the folder in.
Right now I have the NTL_Darwin_Small floder in the forest, land\summer and trees folders
Land is: MODS\MapMods\Maps\_Tex\land\summer\NTL_Darwin_Small with the grand_canyon folder.
Forest is: MODS\MapMods\Maps\_Tex\forest\summer\NTL_Darwin_Small
Trees are: MODS\MapMods\Maps\_Tex\Trees\NTL_Darwin_Small.
I noticed NTL_Darwin went in the _Tex file like this:
MODS\MapMods\Maps\_Tex\NTL_\forest,land,Trees(all together)\Land breaks down to summer\NTL_Darwin_Small-Then the files when you open the folder.
It does the same with forest and trees.
Thank You,
Best regards,
rustydawg

[Problem Solved]
I put the 5 filed from the NTL_Darwin_Small folder in the forest file into the forest folder by themselves and got rid of the NTL_Darwin_Small folder.
Also did the same with the trees.
The Grand Canyon map now comes up perfect.
Thanks for the great Map viking4570. I hope you can make one of SE Arizona where I live. I'm East SE of Tucson around 135 miles, and West of Portal on the HWY 181 just before the curve going North. I live in a mountain valley around 4700 ft above Sea level. Basically between the Chiricahua's Mountains(closer to the Chiricahua's)and Dragoon Mountains. I'm North Of Douglas 45 miles where they had a Army Air Base in WWII.
I Hope FlyZo puts this in the Next MODS.
Thank You again for a great map.
Best regards,
rustydawg

@Viking,
I'm pretty sure this occurred because UP2.0 I think contains the V1.1 version of Darwin. It doesn't have the tex files from Darwin V1.0 in the location you have referenced in your load.ini, as I believe V1.1 hadn't been released when you made your map. These locations were changed in V1.1 as per AAA requirements for custom map textures.
This problem may also occur with HSFX 4.1 depending on the version of Darwin included
Cheers, Neil

Thanks Neil, I think your right - I made this map a long time ago. So the correct path is MODS\mapmods\maps\_Tex\NTL\forest\summer\....
correct?
If that is correct, for this map to load in UP or HSFX the load.ini would need to be:
[WOOD]
Wood0 = NTL/forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood0.tga
Wood1 = NTL/forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood1.tga
Wood2 = NTL/forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood2.tga
Wood3 = NTL/forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood3.tga
Wood4 = NTL/forest/summer/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood4.tga
cheers all, and thanks for the interest in my map! -viking
Re: [download] Grand Canyon map - ordway - 10.04.2010
[quote="viking4570"]A bit of a novelty, but a lot of fun to make and fly. 1:1 scale with four functional airfields and two "emergency" airfields. A bit if a mix of the real and fictional - most of the towns and roads are real places. The airfields are fictional. The big USMC airbase at Yuma is too far south for this map. The railroad to the south is fictional.
This is a brilliant map! For me, this is one of the most fun maps in all the il-2 series. You can do training in the States before you go "overseas". Combined with the T-6 Texan, this is so much fun and useful!

Where are all the ini files?
How to install Grand Canyon - flyoz - 22.05.2010
I'm a newbie when it comes to installing Missions and Campaigns - but I try very hard, with a success rate of around 25%.
This Grand Canyon thing looks great, but I'm stumped and I'm really envious of you experienced guys.
Can someone
'talk' a 'dummy' through the installation in simple terms - please?
I'd be really appreciative.
- viking4570 - 22.05.2010
A new and much improved version of this map can be found here:

Thanks - I've DL the new map and I'm looking forward to see what I'm missing.
However, to be a real pest, can someone tell me how to set up the whole of CC.
Being a newbie, I'd appreciate as much info as possible in a 'dummy' form.
What files where etc?
It's a big ask, but I'd be really appreciative.

Awesome!
hock:
Why should I take a real flight over the Grand Canyon when I have this map?

Downloading right now!
Lejo.....great pics, good sens of composition. This is the kind of map, very inspirating for more creativ projects like movies or more artistical photos...
