:-? Ahemm redko hope you aren't disappointed but may I can ask to you to try to use some stock obyects/buildings we all have jet into 4.09 for this V.2 Okinawa instead?.. i ask this because I think you know there are now LOTs of version of IL2FB modded pack around: HFSX, ULTRAPACK for example.. and if you keep on use stock Obyects instead of create new ones surely your work can be more used and appreciate in a majority of community players then because if you create another mod pack many CRT 2 or mod server can reject to join into on-line due to this new mod obyect folder eventually needed for Okinawa v.2. and the installation can create big problem to people not confident with mods managing like we had in the past due to those "extra obyects folders" that map modder sometimes have created.
Just my suggestion 'cause obviously the work-art is your and then you can make it as your preference however.Regards

Hello redko - I solved the mystery of why the original Okinawa map and LAL_Rone's version were incompatible. Basically, LAL_Rone made some changes to the static.ini, especially with the airfields, for example at Yontan, Kadena and Ie Shima.
For example this is Yontan on the original map:
And this is Yontan on LAL_Rone's map:
These maps are not compatible because if for example you build a mission on LAL_Rone's map, and apply damage to buildings that are unique to his map, then if you try to load the mission on the original map the buildings cannot be traced and the mission will refuse to load properly.
However, it is easy to apply your changes to the original map, simply by removing the static.ini. For example:
May I therefore request that you provide two versions of your completed Okinawa map. One example without the static.ini, which can be used for existing missions, and the other example with the static.ini, which will have the additional objects of LAL_Rone's map, plus any that you may want to add. This way we can enjoy your excellent improvements to the map for both old and new missions.

hum
In fact i was thinking for OkinawaV2 to put the original static instead of Lal_Rone one......You suggest 2 versions  . Why not! The bad point would be to loose all the good work Lal did with the airfields.
Don't you see another solution, you think 2 version is the better one ?

Just give a call when I can provide links redko, This is looking really good
Cheers!

Well I think to replace the original you will need to use the original static.ini. I do not think there is any way around this. I think that LAL_Rone did not only change the airfields, but also changed one or two buildings in the city areas - there were a lot of badly placed buildings on the original map, and I think he did some "tidying up".
For the version that uses LAL_Rone's static.ini (plus maybe some objects of yours) I think this should be the true "Redko Okinawa" map. Of course it is your decision, but I think once you have added your texture and height modifications, it is only a matter of adding the static.ini.
Of course, you could create just the one map based on LAL_Rone's, and leave instructions that to play older missions, the person has to remove the static.ini. The only problem here is how many people read instructions?

Please redko read my suggestion about editing a no-standard map.. hope you not..
why make things more difficult? why ".. delete this file.. change this other.." We all can live with building not historical placed I think instead of a messy situaton like many people can have if you follow the suggestion of PhilK (sorry but I completely disagree with you here m8).
However make your own decision always.
regards.

set it up so you have to install the new static.ini as a separate option? Maybe a seperate download from the textures?

Pardone the large-ish screenie
I tried and just love this map!
The stock map is just a spit of land seemingly resting on the calm ocean- you have restored it to the 'volcanic island chain' it is.
It's spoiling me-- honestly!
~S~ to you and all you other guys who do maps!
Between this one (even at v.1), Benghalli, VKG_Crete, and CanonUK's I am really excited about new textures for maps. I really appreciate the guys with the talent, time and skill who do this stuff and share it. I rarely have enough time to keep up with the latest mods, let alone fly, but what you are doing is so appreciated!
Some day I hope someone retextures Hawaii with Google Earth images and elevation layers!
Good show!

I had an idea- not sure if it is possible or practical, but doesn't hurt to ask:
what if a version of the map were made without
takeoff waypoints?
Would that be desirable? Here is why I ask- I'd been trying to make a mission where a couple of jets could take off of that the nice wide runway on Oki. I watched a tutorial on the FMB and saw where one could do line abreast take-offs, but you couldn't be within 10km of a runway or it'd pop back to that point when you select Takeoff waypoint.
Hopefully in this way you could set individual aircraft side by side on the runway.
What do you think redko?
Thanks for any thoughts you might have on this

TRIAD, just you have only to open FMB and take "runaway n. 4" = invisible one ..and so
you don't need to ask for a strange unstandard map (!).
You can draw 1,2,3,4,5,6, etc.. stripes runaway parallel and put a single take of for every plane into a single stripe, now even if you have anoter standard airport in the near using the "set-take off" instrumenti in FMB you can force to have istantaneus side by side take of for every single plane from those unvisible stripes. - read manual/tutorial of 1946 game about FMB
