Hi.
just a question if you know the place maybe you have the answer.
today we have modern bridges on the islands around Koror like the Japan-Palau friendship dridges. all the stuff is modern but at the time of WW2 were there bridges, even made in wood ? :???:

I would guess that the areas where motor roads cross bodies of water here are causeways rather than bridges. Also, see note at bottom left about causeway/ferry to Koror Island (which can be seen on following map).
The causeway/ferry between Koror and Babelthuap can be seen illustrated here. Causeways between Koror Island and Arakabesan and Malakal Islands can also be seen. The Koror-Malakal causeway incorporates a short bridge over the Lebugol Channel, which you will be able to see in the following photograph. (These two maps are from "Pacific Islands" [Geographical Handbook Series]. Great Britain. Admiralty. Naval Intelligence Division, 1943-1945.)
Under the right wing tip of the B-24 can be seen a pier from Koror Island to the Lebugol Channel and below that the causeway with bridge from Koror to Malakal Island.
Peleliu also had a causeway that figured prominently in the battle for the island. The causeway connected Peleliu to Ngesebus Island, as can be seen here:

Oh thanks you so much. will take look to this now. i already sent the download link for agreement but if i have time i would like to ad this bridges that's important to a living aspect to the map.
edit : ok causeways.....what kind of object do we have able to simulate this...i know there is wood bridges and something who could be used as causway..ok will check that !

Looks like akdavis answered your question far better than I could have! I only know Palau as it exists today, I'm afraid. But, given the limitations of the IL2 terrain engine, a bridge might be a better approximation of a causeway, than a small strip of land.
Also, I think the "surf" I was noticing before is not actually surf, but the way Avala drew the reef in map_c. The stripes in the reef areas is causing it to look like surf, or underwater sand dunes or something. I would think that a better representation of the coral reefs could be made by painting the reef more uniformly in map_c, and using textures to get the underwater reef effects.
But I'm not complaining. It looks great, and is a thousand times better than the original map. Nice work!

on harbour stuff there are objects that could represents causeways, Phil_K used it for is compain "hell in the pacific". the problem is badly painted...we need more guys like LAL_ROne and vpmedia to go on repainting these things!

Yes i agree. i'm wainting for Kap agreement he has the file now. but during the wait i will be working on it. anyway it's just a V1
. BTW i erased rivers, i tryed to paint in a more slim way on map_c but in reason of the bad resolution on map_c to slim lines disapear sometimes. so i will take a look to Fabian's object.[/quote]

Those work pretty well for causeways. The causeway from Babelthuap to Koror should have a gap and ferry over the deeper channel in the middle. I'm looking for a photo where this is visible.
edit: found one.

Ok perfect. hard to to see it figure out whats this was really but i can fix it. Thanks again ! If you have more like this post, kap must be busy today so it let me the time to ad last minute changes before official release today when i get the "ok" from Kap  .
on the last pic there seems to be 2 causeways instead of one single, bottom of the pic...the map show only one.
You are indispensable AK.

Looks like the small bridge over the channel in the Koror to Malakai causeway had been destroyed by the time this picture was taken. It can be seen intact in the following photo, and the pier to the Lebugol channel is much more distinct.

What i meant was exhibition. But my bad english and old age and few beers did that!
Finland IS a fishermans paradise and what comes to lakes and streams. Lots of wildernes to get lost hahahah!
Redko, check your PM
To akdavis:
Missionbuilders can add those bridges and stuff while making campaigns/missions
Map looks fantastic.
I just wish that somewbody could make some nice pacific houses and jungle forest layers that actually look like jungle...
