Thank you!

shemya principal airfield (rest the second...)
- Tigershark - 28.03.2008
During the Battle of Attu a lot of areas were clouded with fog or low level clouds which pretty much obscured everything. It was pretty much a natural screen in many cases, which totally blotted out the Jap positions...
REQUEST In your future screens, try setting the cloud level to the lowest you can *there's a mod which allows you to set it almost to ground level* and perhaps it will have even more of an alsaka feel than it ALREADY has...
!!!!!!!!!thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

but if i make that, you will cannot see my work. And, in my doc, it is write that shemya was not 24h/24 under the fog (a lot of time, but not the all time).

I've joined the Aleutians Map Team, and i'm working on the Amchitka island.
Textures...
Constantine Harbor...
BTW, if anyone has good pictures of Constantine Harbor and the Amchitka airbase, that would be great.

Looks like aleutians to me.
Those pictures above of the airfield (real) look to be rather late time frame. Most images I have seen in 42-43 are pretty rugged looking.
Bombing kiska.

Yes it does look like the aleutians spud, but like I said in an earlier, there needs to be more
fog and weather added... Alaska hardly ever has clear skies!!! So please author, like I said before please included more fog / weather shots in your screens...
please!!!
cheers

That plane (large on in front of hanger) is a PB4Y-2.
PB4Y-2 aircraft did not enter service until late 1944. Those airfields are long past the May 1943 recapture of Attu, and the August recapture of Kiska.
Any design based on pictures like that will show a overly developed field.

these photo are from 44 or 45 if the legend of the photo are exact on the site.
If i take this photo like reference, its for see the size and the emplacement of the things. My map will reprensent the aleutian in 43. And in the doc i have found, the little house was not all built, but it has a lot of tent and (but not sure), the pist and the taxi was finished
Thank you spud for the documentation
@Tigershark
If i dont place any fog, its for a better visibility for look. If i place the big fog like your claim, nobody can will see anything!

Just saying that the extent of the facility is likely far greater in 44/45 than 42/43.
Look at the growth of henderson in the slot thread. Single dirt strip to huge, sprawling facility with 2 fields starting to overlap in a couple years.
Were there any hangers in early 43?

good remark...
http://www.hlswilliwaw.com/aleutians/Sh ... 3-1945.pdf
so maybe convert in a dogfight map of '45...
And make an other for 1943 for the historic...
And just for tigershark, Fog!
Like you can see, i have make some modification like the hangar and the road.
