About the WIP , I remember that the SHOKI was employed even in New Guinea and Burma and not only in Home Land or not?

Shoki was used in Burma, China, Philippines, Java, etc. I don'think it were used in New Guinea (maybe in a very small quantity, I don't know). In CBI it was a very important airplane (the best Japanese plane available until the Ki-84 arrived to China. Not Ki-61 in Burma). Very useful against those Spitfires!
The most widely used version was the IIb, hence my question.

sry for not posting any updates. Lately I haven't been in the modelling mood I guess, I know this is not a good excuse Tongue But I just let you guys know that I am working on it atm. I deleted the caps in the wings cause they just looked really bad and made the smoothing look bad... so yea I am going some steps back, I have done some modelling days ago but that was tweaking verteces and cleaning up things so basicly not something worth for posting on here I guess. Anyway my apologies for not posting updates now and then but I am working on it atm and if its worth showing ill post it here tonight.

Good news! Which version are you modelling?
By the way, I saw in some books Ki-44s of same versions carrying telescopic or reflector sight. I don't know if it was depending of the data of construction, or the reflectors were added as field mods. Any data about this?

Judging by the blueprints I am making Ki-44 I, personaly I know nothing about the ww2 airplane history so that isn't a good question for me Tongue, But ill ask the person I am making it for, for some details so I can answere your question Wink

I'll be happy and grateful with anything, but the Ki-44 I had only a very limited combat use (the "Kingfisher Unit" 47th Chutai) in the 41-42 winter in Southeast Asia.
A IIb or IIc model would be much more useful. The II was used through the entire war (starting production in November 1942). The standard fighter was the IIb, and the specialized anti-bomber version was the IIc.

Well, after carefully watching your blueprints and W.I.P., I think it's in fact a II model, not an I one.
The II model had a "box" under the cowling (in the chin of the plane). The first production model had no "box" (sorry for my English). The first blueprint you used said "Ki-44 II" also....



The "box" I was talking about is the oil scoop

The version I was produced in 40 unit and in 3 series , only the prototype have the oil cooler in the cowling , the production type have the oil cooler under the cowling; the version Ia have cowling gun of 7,7mm and the wing gun of 12,7mm; the Ib have all the 4 gun of 12,7mm calibre , the Ic have the gear doors and leg reworked.
The version IIa have more powerful engine and early a/c retain cowling 7,7mm MG and telescopic gunsight , from version IIb the guns switced to 4 x 12,7mm gun and in version IIc the wing gun was the 20mm , the 37mm and even the 40mm (which have a short aerodinamic cover between barrel and wing)
