It's always easy to be bold in a simulator. Not so much in a real airplane, with live ammo being slung your direction.

US_GRANT Wrote:Spectre15 Wrote:Aviar.....Diving away from a fight is lame anyways. Grow a pair and fight...............Who cares about such a little detail. The fact is your complaining that you can't run away......FAIL!
I feel sorry for you. Some of the greatest fighter pilots in history knew when it was time to "cut and run" to survive a fight. The better pilots always knew how to use their planes advantages. It's not cowardice to dive away and then re-engage when you are able to once again have an advantage.
The Corsair could dive faster than the Zero. Pilots were trained to use that in fighting with the Zeros. Are you calling the Navy and Marine pilots who fought in WW II that used that technique cowards?

not sure what is up Spectre15 but, but his reply showed one of two things. He is upset with Aviar for some reason, or, he is totally ignorant with regards to real world tactics that were used in real life. Take your pick, neither speaks well of Spectre15. If I had to guess, Spectre15 got banned from one of Aviar's cool coops and this is his only way of getting back at him. But I digress.
As for Aviar's concern with the AI being able to dive faster than a real person in the same plane, well, that 'theory' of AI being able to do things real users can not do has been around for a long time. There was some pretty good tests done by folks that showed it may in fact be the case. Assuming for a moment that is the case, it is not PeterD's fault the game engines has errors or limitations in it that allow the AI to do things real users cant. I wouldn't expect PeterD to add something just to try and account for or try offset that error/bug/limitation. Granted that is not the reason he 1st included it, but as with most things as more info is obtained changes are made. Take the P38 fire extinguishers for example. Now with that said, if it is the case that AI can push planes harder than real users than it is something we have been dealing with since day one. Thus we will just have to continue to deal with it. Unless someday some modder finds that low level AI code and changes it such that they can not dive faster than real people or run engines in overheat conditions for ever, etc.

You feel sorry for me? My life is complete........ Also never flew any coops with Aviar and haven't a single problem with him. You failed to see what my post was really about. Him complaining about such a little thing. Also comparing real life to a Combat simulator is a failure in its own, I feel sorry for you...........

Everyone calm dowm. It's just a game. I looked at the 'proof' posted by PeterD and I don't see any real proof at all.
I already posted some links when the auto-airbrake was originally being discussed. I don't need to post them again. That information seemed to be good enough for PeterD at the time. Now that he is getting complaints from players, he is thinking about removing that feature.
In every single piece I've ever read about the MiG auto-airbrake, I've never seen anything mentioned about it being implemented on later models only.
In the end, it's just a mod and if I don't like it , I don't have to use it. I don't understand why people get so emotional over it. I was simply stating my opinion on the matter.
Also, my only intention here was to help PeterD and the community in general. I have always been a big advocate of these two particular mods (Mig-15(bis) and F86A-5) and so I happily invested some of my own time and effort in trying to help in any way I could.

No, what gave you that idea?
Can you point/quote me where I ever said anything of the sort?
I don't think so, maybe you should give it a 2nd read?
In that all I did was point out the two possible cases that your previous statement could stem from
Spectre15 Wrote:Also never flew any coops with Aviar and haven't a single problem with him. You failed to see what my post was really about. Him complaining about such a little thing.
Ah so it is case #2, i.e. you are ignorant to the tactics used in real life. Thanks for the confirmation.
Spectre15 Wrote:Also comparing real life to a Combat simulator is a failure in its own, I feel sorry for you...........
So you equate 'comparing' real life to a simulator as failure? Than what do you consider someone who took the time to 'complain' about someone who took the time to 'compare'? As you did in your first reply to Aviar? 2xfailure? In that case, you should feel sorry for yourself, not I.

You really do FAIL at life.... Grant said he felt sorry for me I was referring to him. Maybe you should pay more attention eh? Also Peter's planes are great. The only thing some people fail to realize is the Mig15Bis is one of the latest versions of the plane and the F86A is one of the earliest. So of course one is better than the other. Just wait for the F86F to come out and you wont need to cut and run anymore.......

Said 'the guy' who took the time to 'complain' about someone 'complaining' about something 'the guy' considered 'silly' makes your assessment of me a non issue.
Spectre15 Wrote:Grant said he felt sorry for me I was referring to him. Maybe you should pay more attention eh?
Nice try but no sale.. It's clear you got the two of our replies to you mixed up, in that Grant said nothing about your troubles with Aviar, I did. So you should really be more attentive.. Especially when referring to a very valid tactics as being silly.
Spectre15 Wrote:Also Peter's planes are great.
Agreed 100%

The only thing you fail to realize is nobody but you seem to think a better dive and top speed is 'silly' and not worth talking about. But hey, it's clear to me that is new/news to you, so Ill cut you some slack. Do some reading up on the subject and maybe in time you will realize just how silly your silly comment is. Good Luck! S!

Well I can see that me pointing out you ignorance on this subject has upset you greatly, so Ill end this with what I ended my last reply, Good Luck! Youll need it

I would love showing you sometime how ignorant I really am on the subject of energy fighting, maybe you can meet me on hyperlobby and teach me a thing or two sense your the ACE OF ACES! Tell your grandma to bake some cookies as well.
Help Urgently Needed......whimper - justin.bronk - 08.11.2009
Um..... I just installed these beauties off your site and they had no automatic installer in the package. This wasn't a problem, I have added new-slot planes manually before so I just did that. Unfortunately, my game now crashes on opening at 60%. I tried installing the fix suggested because I have the F86 MOD in my MODS folder but other than that my install is standard AAA UI1.2 - PLEASE HELP

Did you double check your air.ini for both the MiG and the Sabre entries. I know sometimes if it is typed wrong or the entire line in the readme is not copied it will do the 60% crash.

Get the automatic installer for each aircraft instead if you want them installed automatically. First make sure your remove all the aircraft entries from air.ini, plane_ru.properties and weapons_ru.properties, then remove the F-86 folder and the MiG-15(bis) folder from your MODS folder, then install them. The automatic installers are called:
Download MiG-15 (Beta 1.0)
Download F-86A-5 Sabre (Beta 1.0)
still no luck - justin.bronk - 09.11.2009
I tried what you said peter and it's still CTDing at 60%.... Any other ideas - I would really hate to have to do a full reinstall
- PeterD - 09.11.2009
Did you point the installers to your IL2 folder? (not the MODS folder)
