Downloading now! I just saw the screens and I couldn't believe that it is IL2. I thought it was something like CFS X. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Can't wait to test this baby. Brilliant work. Keep it on.
Just one question, is it possible to use it in the QMB+? I don't see any files in the missions/quick folder to add into conf.ini and the files are neither there nor in the folder with your map...how to import this map into QMB+?
- McHilt - 04.01.2010
UN BE LIE VA BLE... man, these mods are going beyond the limits of
what one could have ever imagined IL-2 would be like on a day like today.....
Holy crap, are we in IL-2?
Congratulations guys, well done! :rocks: :drinking: :friends: :yay:

I just replaced the stock Oki map with this one. The QMBs work just fine
Hope that helps -

- FEBRUARY 7 2010 UPDATE -
Ok so now that repaint of Kyushu V1 map is done i can redo some things i have in mind for Okinawa. I'm just waiting for feebacks from my last Kyushu testers and then i give the download link to Fly_zo for agreement
What i'm planning to do for Okinawa V2 is:
- little cosmetic improvements for mounts
- redo all the city textures which are now really bad, i learned many things working on Kyushu V1. they are now too modern, and most of all contrast is really bad, doesn't fit with the rest of the map
- populate harbors and docks
- populate cities and fields
- rework all contrats for cities and fields
- ad some new nice textures for fields
- Murph - 21.02.2010
After flying the Kyushu map, I'm really looking forward to this new version. Are you continuing to work on this even though you are now working on Palau? (Which also is looking great BTW)

Phil_K Wrote:Hello redko - I solved the mystery of why the original Okinawa map and LAL_Rone's version were incompatible. Basically, LAL_Rone made some changes to the static.ini, especially with the airfields, for example at Yontan, Kadena and Ie Shima.....
....May I therefore request that you provide two versions of your completed Okinawa map. One example without the static.ini, which can be used for existing missions, and the other example with the static.ini, which will have the additional objects of LAL_Rone's map, plus any that you may want to add. This way we can enjoy your excellent improvements to the map for both old and new missions.
100%. I started to rework this map. As Lal_Rone made a good job for air fields, and your compains are made for this map, i'm planing to start with his static for the V2 of this map. it will be a better repaint including populating : urban textures in Okinawa are enough detailed to make a repaint AND a good work on bildings.
I would like t get something like Slovenia map for exemple, with real tiny villages with bildings going perfectly with the textures...but keepin good fps.
And i will put back the original name of the map...LAL_Rone Okinawa to make it clear for all the people.

Jaymom Wrote:Hello Redko.... My favorite spot to create a mission is either the Okinawa mainland, a aircraft
carrier off the coast of Okinawa or Ie Shima, a small island off Nago. So I was quite excited
when I read that someone had made a new map of Okinawa. Please dont take this as negative
criticism because it certainly isnt meant to be. I was stationed on Okinawa twice and IeShima
once while serving in the U.S.A.F. and it is one of my most favorite spots on earth. I have always
wondered why Kadena isnt mentioned as a city on Okinawa. It is the biggest city on the island.
While I was stationed on IeShima I used to love to climb the mountain they had there. It was
bigger and flatter on top than in the map. I used to watch the F105's from Kadena practice firing
their machine guns at the targets we set up on the north beach. You could see the tracers before
you heard the purr of the guns. When we went to the mainland we took a ferry to Nago a small
town back then but from what i just read it has grown considerably...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nago,_Okinawa
From there we took a bus to Kadena. I wish the map showed the ferry docking ports at both IeShima
and Nago. Also, the island of IeShima has a lot of trees on it as well as a smaller town at the far
western end of it. We wern't allowed to go there since it was a communist run town.
Anyway, thank you oh so much for your great efforts on this map. It brings back some wonderful memories.
Jaymom
Job started Sir. You will have the city and the docks. There is less trees today in IeShima  . I will try to find some docs showing what was the island at that time, same things for the docs, we know what they are today through Google earth but it should have been different during WW2.
If we are lucky Sir we will have a better Okinawa this week
