december 23 update
I'm testing right now some new cities textures hoping they will look older than those released for Okinawa. I have some good results but i'm not 100% satisfied. Luckily once ended these will be use for Okinawa V2 map.

work of this morning - update
Ok so now i found what was wrong
. Now i can paint the plains of the interior part of Kyushu, mount Unsen-shi sector. A couple of hours to wait to finish all. My pc is burning...
Now we really can say that we are going to fly over a fully populated Kyushu ! :wink:

Agree. i'm trying to be the most close to what was Kyushu at that time and your remark is in my mind to.
that's what i think:
1. for the moment i think "global", i'm trying to have a global vision of WW2 Kyshu. When i get this vision i'll paint it and will release VI to have feedback. Cities could be improved later...now i must confront the job to critics . it's important to know if i take the good direction or not. Once global scale work is done i'll improve details.
2. i use a set of pregressive textures from center city to suburb zones and then fields....so it means if cities look to populated, i will be able in short time to make suburb and fields textures progress in direction to citie textures...and make them look smaller. As the whole painting will be allready done, i will be able to tackle the cities problem quickly for a V2 for exemple....that's why i must release the map at this stage.
3.cities texture are new compared to okinawa V1...they are better, sharper and looks older with less modern bildings. of course this could be improved later.
4. even if some parts looks too populated there is many many wild parts in this map like some flora deserts or volcanic areas. populated sectors make balance with the desert places......this will force pilote to explore the map. that's my purpose
Nothing will be perfect of course, and some people will love this and not that which is normal....but you know what ??? even not finished at 100% i can tell you that for me it's REAL PLEASURE to fly this map, there is allready many many hot places to fly in.
Global process is finished at 95%
