Me210/410 gunners - Slow - 24.11.2007
Hey,
first of all, I would like to thank you for making my dreams come true at Ilyushin IL-2 Sturmovik.
I was wondering about this: would making the gunners for the Me210/410 possible by, as an example, using the periscope sight of the AR-234? That's be so neat.
Thanks in advance,
Slow/Ulrich Rudel.

you wouldnt need to use that would you? I mean its got a gunner sitting there already, all you'd need to do would be something simular to the remote turrent on the B-29

Read the post, I stated the periscope sight from the AR-234 since I think that's the closest to the periscope sights on the Me-210/410.

I might be wrong but it looks as though the gunner didn't have a periscope. He seems to have had a central grip and trigger mounted on a beam which swung two gunsights left and right (or rotated them up and down). If he wanted to shoot to the left he looked through the port Revi, if he wanted to shoot to the right he looked through the starboard one. (The Revis have been removed in the picture below)
All this must have been electrically assisted because it looks like a weighty bit of kit.
I think the Arado 240 had periscopically aimed guns. The Me210/410 seems to have had a much simpler system, with no coverage at all of the blindspot underneath.
Edit: did I say simpler? IMHO it was a ludicrously complicated way of aiming and firing two guns.

and thus, no periscope.

My bad.
