It is much easier to install mods into v4.05. You don't need the filelist.txt, you don't need the Files folder. All you need is RTS.DLL patch... And, finally, the contents of the Files folder must be put right into IL-2 root folder.

Edit: Some of the mods designed for v4.08 wouldn't work for v4.05. This is because v4.05 requires the real pathnames of the files (no hashes).
