Hit/Damage Detail on Aircraft-->repaint possible? - renmik - 23.12.2007
Hi Guys,
if not allready done, please look on Destruction Detail of this:
viewtopic.php?t=1726
I don't know if it's possible...but could the actually Destructive Detail get pimped?
For Example: If I'm flying a Me BF 109 F or G, and get a hit on Engine...
than there appears some ugly black dots to simulate holes.
I like the Damage Detail of Me BF 109 E series very well,
when the Hood is deformed...looks pretty.
But I miss some scratches and detail at the "Holes".
Did someone think it were possible to repaint for a bit more detail?
If it's a TGA-Graphic-File as overlay, I hadn't find it yet...
Many THX in advance
Hope you can understand my bad english.
Merry X-Mas

On that pic of Spitfire that Uncle Oleg gave few weeks ago, damage is also made in 3D model not just in textures. That is not possible in IL2, but it is possible to paint new damage textures that could be little more detailed, and that must be 32 bit tga with alpha channels. That could be find for example here, and open with that “splash screen” method.
\3DO\Plane\choose plane that you want . . .
And textures calls “damage” (who would say that)

Omg...
Avala, thx again...I have searched everywhere...but not 3DO\Plane\...
Silly me...
Thank you very much mate !!

Edit: 3D Damage Model... don't know, if I look a bit longer onto it... it seems a little better version of 2D Destruction with high Color-Detail (Reflection) 'couce high resolution.
But I will see no relief... *eyes rubb* ... no, same effect. I'm sorry, just my opinion.

Just to be more clear, what “splash screen” method sees as white is in effect transparent alpha texture, and it must be set in photoshop when setting alpha channel to opacity of 100%.

renmik.. This would be great, if you can pull it off. Copying the type of damage on the spit picture to the other damage mods, would improve the overall effect dramatically.
GOODLUCK with this.....keep us posted
