Sound mod Switches Interface to Russian - Guest - 23.12.2007
After intalling ENG_sound_mod_version_0.91 IL2's whole interface switched to Russian.
I could get DGen to show career and mission briefs in English with some file renaming but I need a hint to get the ranks back in English. I mean when I choose a campaign, both dynamic and static, the ranks are in Russian. OK, they still go from lowest to highest, but I'd really like to have the English version back. I guess I have to rename some .dat file to _ru.dat but I can't figure out what file(s) I have to rename.
Also getting the WHOLE English interface back would be really very cool.
I remember what most buttons do but I find the language mix pretty annoying: I even use English versions for my OS's and programs though my native language is something else, because some programs are only available in English and I don't want languages to mix on my desktop... and now I'm kind of stuck with an interface in a language I don't even know
If the only alternatives are either Russian interface or no mods, I guess I'll keep the Russian UI but I would really appreciate suggestions, tips, hints, links to other pages, anything that may help completely restore the English interface without uninstalling Sound Mod.
I noticed that the problem must be in Files.SFS because when I unsinstalled the sound mod I forgot to restore the original Files.SFS and the interface stayed Russian, so I guess we 'd need an English version of the modified Files.SFS (too bad I can't make one myself)
Is there any fix to completely restore the English user interface after installing Sound Mod?
No need for DGen-only solutions, that has been fixed already, thanks to (The link is inoperative)THIS thread.
As a temporary solution while trying to find a way to get my English interface back, I'd like to know what file(s) I have to rename to _ru in order to make ranks show in English in my campaigns

I think you need to reinstall the mod, I got the all Russian interface once but I had not extracted all the files, just some. You will have a Russian splash screen but the rest should be English.

There are mods and work arounds to restore your game to English, Look in the downloads section, it's not difficult, even I did it..lol!
You will still have the main load up screen in Russian, but even that can be changed if you look hard enough in the forums!

Well I did my homework and it seems to be OK now: only the splash screen is still in Russian. Anyone having the same problem, the solution is in the thread I linked in my previous post, and the trick is in going through all the posts with a little bit of patience.
