changing default skins - Jaypack44 - 29.12.2007

OK, so I have the mod, and it's pretty much one of the best ones I've gotten- the only problem is, I don't know how to create desert/pacific skins like people were talking about. Howis this accomplished? (I tried by doing the "copy .tgas from "cache" and into the 3do folder in a "desert" folder for each a/c)

sorry if that sounds confusing...basically i want to know how to make default skins for desert maps.

The Bf-109F4 for example shows the summer skin on the ONLINE MT/Sandsoftime map.

Some planes (P-51's for example) require a 'desert' subfolder for the PTO default and the 'summer' folder is for other maps.

Imho this is an unfinished part of the game, not a generic rule.

Theoretically we should have 4 sets summer, winter, desert and pto and the maps load.ini file should tell the game which folder to select but they probably recognized during work that this "perfect" method would require many more skins so we got something inbetween the perfect and minimum solution.

You can have a desert skinset if you make 2 and each time you need to overwrite the files, with other words theres no easy way which would require no user interaction.

plus, remember that for a very long time we had only one desert map, only recently were some more added...
