SoundMod 0.93 How to reverse spit machinegun to 0.92? - Guest - 31.12.2007
First I thank for all good work by Wasy here again, Installed 0.93 sound-mod and all ok. But I've found machinegun of spitfire sound "artificial" compared to the previous version 0.92. I would like to sobstitute it but don't know what files I have to change in preset/samples? thank anyone for help and all have a good 2008!!

Not 100% sure, but isn't it a matter of just swapping the existing sample with the one you want to replace it with??..
- Guest - 31.12.2007
yes Trooper, but the problem is that
I don't Know what files have to be swapped

Under \Files\Samples, they should be amonst the mg_xxxx.wav
But maybe you can 'go by ear' which MG sounds you don't like.

I use Hardballs AC Viewer to identify the armaments name -> 4 x 0.30 cal Browning MG so you need to open "weapon.MGunBrowning303s.prs"
This is from 0.92:
Quote:[common]
mode relobj pos
type mixer
numadj 1
[spl]
130
[samples]
MG_59.wav
MG_59i.wav
[sample.MG_59.wav]
env 0 2
infinite 1
period 0.08
[sample.MG_59i.wav]
env 8
infinite 1
period 0.08
in this case you need simply overwrite the 0.93 prs file with the old one(above) imho + put the samples there if they're missing
and Happy New Year!

Ah mate.. This is where you need a 'good ear'.. Use the old files to track down the sound you desire.. Then swap it with the one in game with the same name. Just had a quick look in the files and you have a selection of 20 MG sounds.. but you can narrow it down to 1 or 2 in relatively short order..

So the wav files haven't been changed between 0.92 and 0.93, and falco then doesn't need to overwrite the MG_59.wav and MG_59i.wav with the ones from 0.92?

Hmm very confusing about.. may be I'll try your suggestion however I'll revert to 0.92 ..but just for curiosity: am I the lonely one who have this no-good feelin about new 0.93 mg? ..probably I'm becoming too old .. o yess..in fact another year is coming
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU M8!! 8)

ok, tryed to substitute 0.92 MG_59 and MG_59i into 0.93 samples : first I converted them in mono as new samples in 0.93 are mono but even if I edited and changed DB (up to +10! compared to originals ones..) they still sound much lower of other in-game
anyone Know how to alter level sound in-game of samples? and can anyone explain me what's the mistery about if I edit a louder sound than original however in-game this take no effect :?: .. 8)

1. Don't use hardware support for sound
2. Copy old engine presets (it's file looks like motor.*****.prs) from 0.92 to 0.93 May be it will be work........

Thank for your reply Wasy but it Isn't pointed to my question:
1) Disabling hardware sound isn't the cure for loudering the sound in-game
2)Engine preset refer ..to engine.. And I asked to you about MACHINEGUN sound.
-I repeat another time to you my original question:
- How to increase level of sound of one single samples/preset in-game- ver. 0.93
Wasy if you don't want to reply exaustively to my precise question there's NP, you have right to not diffuse how to manage/optimize -your work- and I respect it, but I think in a community of modders every sharing may help to increase quality of every single stuff made by every single m8. Thank you for the attention. 8)

Increase loud in sound editor or take samples from another version......

I think to increase volume of Browning MG sound, you'll need to open
weapon.MGunBrowning50s.prs
Quote:[common]
mode relobj pos
type mixer
numadj 1
[spl]
130
[samples]
MG_Browning50x.wav
MG_Browning50.wav
[sample.MG_Browning50x.wav]
env 0 2
infinite 1
period 0.074
[sample.MG_Browning50.wav]
env 8
infinite 1
period 0.074
the one you need to adjust is
spl (between 100-120 is normal, 140 is loud imho)
