Dumb new default skins in Mod 4.09 beta question. - Towguru - 04.01.2008

Hi,

Stupid question I am sure, but will the new default skin pack load safely over the modded version of 1946?

I have the 4.9 modded beta installed (with sounds v 0.92) and various reticle mods. I was concerned that the *.sfs(?) file in the new default skin pack would screw something up as I have no idea how that file interacts with the primary and other mods above and beyond the fact that the default skins are located inside it.

Thanks in advance.

Yon need only rewrite fb_3do20.sfs, from skins patch archive to il2fb folder

I know opinions vary on the new default skins with the beta patch.. But considering what we had before, I'd say the last thing these new skins were is dumb??
For what it's worth, they are many times better than the stock version.. and yes, they loaded into the game with no drama, on top of all my other mods etc.. Smile

Hey Fatcat (or anyone that may know) where can I download your ID icons for little bit better emersion. example + for axis and 0 or solid dot for allis.

I can probably do it myself if you could point me to the files to change. Cheers wingflyr.

I disagree. In Russian planes, some new default skins are worse than the stock we had before 4.09b.

As I said.. Opinions will vary!
It all comes down to individual taste..

Trooper and others,

My topic question was worded somewhat poorly.

I was not inferring that the new skins were dumb; I was in fact alluding to the possibility that my question could probably be considered dumb in and of itself by some people.

I have seen the new skins, they are certainly better than anything I can do and overall I consider them a vast improvement both aesthetically and historically over the stock skins.

I just wanted to know what I needed to do to use them in addition to my modded game.

Thanks
Nick

lol.. No drama mate. I re-read your post and see what you are getting at. I just marvel at the effort and work that goes into these skins, and I feel quite sad when people 'bash' them verbaly.
It's a serious matter for the people that work on them I know that much!..
