Ships.ini questions - spud - 08.01.2008
Code:
[Tramp:Part1]
BaseChunk Hull2
strengthBasedOnThisSection strength_HullMedium
Vital
damageDepth 0.33
damagePitch 0.0
damageRoll 2.0
damageTime 38.0
What do the entires mean?
I tried changing the damage time to a high number, and it didn't like it (999 worked, though I saw no change in bahavior).

not that simple,

Clearly.
Care to elaborate?

you seem to be looking at the 'vitals' section of ships.ini (somewhere near the bottom)
I haven't been looking there because it is all greek to me too...lol
I don't think the thing affecting ship sinking times is to be found in the ships.ini...I think it is hard coded elsewhere
the destruction mod was only concerned with the AA guns and their relative resistance to hits
this is in the top of the ships.ini ...'Gun Durability'
[strength_GunTiny]
MinShotCaliber 0.00762
NumShots 15 //23
MinHitExplTNT 2
NumHitExpl 4
MinNearExplTNT 3 //4
NumNearExpl 5 //7
the figures after the // are the ones provided by the mod...and the new ones before the // are ones I am trying out to see their effect...the // will disable anything to its right...like comments

I'm actually quite surprised that any of the values in those files work (along the lines of Lal R One's mod). I believe that I have seen ship sink time entries in the ships.class file. I got frustrated and took a break though, as I could get no advice on where to find a more ergonomic piece of editing software.
P.S. Does anyone have software recommendations for editing the java classes?

Ah, I was hoping it might be that simple to change. even without messing with the ship DM, I'd love to see them take, heck, HOURS to sink instead of uder 2-3 minutes now.

that is one thing I have been begging Oleg for for ages...to increase sinking time by at least a factor of ten....
I also asked Qtim if he could and he said "shouldn't be impossible"
