TIGER MOTH - REMOVING REAR GUN
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
hiya all
im interested in this subject..
do you really think removing the rear gun from the tiger moth (which shouldnt have one) is classed as a cheat ? i mean its not adding a weapon or giving the player flying it an advantage, so whats the big deal ? i mean also removing the weapon only really acts as if the player is not shooting the gun - so i cant see anything wrong with removing the gun. The main thing for me is that it acts as a cheat in online play & doing this would not give a player any advantage at all.
what do you think ?
so you say if we do this what other changes do we allow.
in this respect it is bad but i think we must think about our mods carefully and decide between us if we think its going to disrupt the online community in anyway & i cannot see anything bad in removing a gun from a plane if the user decides they want to do this. If we went ahead with this we will clearly state that the rear gun no longer operates.
im creating a poll but the results do not in decide what we should do - i think we should do a poll just to get some feedback for now before going any further with such a mod.
btw LOL im still uncertain of how to remove it !
please give your thoughts on this subject below

Yes remove it (if possible)
Removing a gun is in no way the same as adding one.

Well...
It is a tricky one...
I would say that it would be a good idea, to remove the gun... but another part of me thinks that, if we start here... how long till it could happen the otherway...? Not saying that it
WILL just saying that, for the moment, we can safely say that we dont tinker with FM/DM/WL's... in anyway... So for now I will think about it a lil' longer - vote later
Would be good, for say, removing those underwing gunners on the Pe-8 for a Lancaster, or say removing the Beaufighters forward facing guns to create a Beaufort etc etc...
On that note, early in the war, when New Zealand didnt have much aircraft, and was waiting for her P-40's etc to arrive. When the japanese flew sub launched planes over Wellington, Auckland, and Littleton harbour, we sent one or two (think only one though) RNZAF Tiger Moth(s) airborne with a machine gun

Interesting...I must be missing an update. When I last flew the Tiger Moth, I purposefully tried to switch seats to see if there was a second pilot seat, and nothing happened! has there been a rear gunner added since it was first posted???
Regardless, I definitely believe that a Tiger Moth, which was a trainer, should NOT have a gunner in the back seat! I mean, really, if a guy that has this MOD installed, goes into a DF server that allows MODs, and chooses a U2V expecting to have some kind of rear gunner protection, he NEEDS to be shot down!!

Something else to consider here...as long as we're wringing our hands over worrying about messing around with removing a gunner position from an AI plane. Nobody will ever see this MOD unless they are in a MOD friendly server, AND the server has this MOD! and that goes for any of the other MODs that Magpie mentions. The Pe-8/Lancaster, or the Beaufort. If they are in the MOD friendly server without the MOD, then all they will see is U2V sitting duck, or a Beaufighter without it's forward firing guns.
I fully support not messing around with FMs or DMs, or even the WL's for any plane that was originally flyable. But if we're talking about planes that the Pure of Heart will never see in a server, what's the problem?!!

Removing weapons on hybrids seems like a no-brainer to me. heck, adding them or messing with FMs is fine with me for hybrids under particular conditions.
Say there was a mod that took all the BS '46 planes that are fantasy, or never saw conbat in ww2, and replaced them with stuff like the tiger moth, etc. That would be cool. The hybrids shouldn't have to have jet FMs, though, better to clone in the FM/DM (unmodded), but use those slots for planes that are needed instead of the buck rodgers crap.

Yes, you are right !!!
Also, the Plane has a terrible handling with Bombs under Wing.
Select "Empty" and everything is fine.
