3D Scale? - x4btr - 15.01.2008
Hello All. I reckon we all can see that many of the 3D objects are rather out of scale, comparing one to another. In many cases I would say this is annoying, rather than limiting.
However, in other cases it is a real sim problem. I would suggest that in my view the relative size of aircraft carriers, for example, certainly impedes the simulation. Is it possible, therefore (I wonder), to adjust the scale of such objects as ships (carriers)? This would greatly assist flight deck operations, for a start, and probably allow for static aircraft and such like.
Has anyone attempted such a thing?

Cheers. Ok, so one may scale the object in the heir.him file... But I have no idea how to work with these. Is there anyone about who would like to have a go?
I reckon most carriers should be 50% larger than current, or perhaps more.

Why do you think the CVs are too short? This came up in PF ages ago... I posted these shots a while back at ubi.

If anything she's too big.

Cheers for the excellent pictures.
I agree that the escort carriers look about right, but to my eye the big ship (CV-9) still seems to be too narrow. By no means 50%, of course; I was well off the mark! Perhaps 1/3 of a wing span, using the SBD as a guide?
Hmmm.. I'll have to look some more....

Actually, the escort looks big to me, and Essex looks dead on.

Look at the 2d row from the stern on Essex. It's a little more than 2 SBD wingspans. The one on the starboard side actually has the wingtip hanging over the deck. The rear row and the 3d, 5th, and so on) has the left plane hanging almost the entire wing over the port side.

Actually, Essex looks too wide if anything, but not by much.
