Help MrJolly!! - VT-51_Razor - 26.01.2008
I have been trying - without success - to create a new Default skin for the F4U-1 Corsair. I have down loaded VP's Skin Mod. I have also been successful in changing the order and name of the F4U-1.
" First, make sure, that in conf.ini parameter "ClearCache" is set to "0",
them launch the game and run QMB with the choosen skin.
For a summer Bf-109F4 skin you need the following files,
which will be automatically generated once you viewed a skin in the QMB, on the arming screen:
-skin1o.tga
-skin1p.tga
-skin1q.tga
-skin1o.tgb (these are different resolutions of the same skin, being switched when view distance is changed)
The location of generated files will be C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Cache\Bf-109F-4\
You must copy these files to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\files\3do\plane\bf-109f-4\summer\ ...."
Here are some of my problems;
I cannot find the line "ClearCache=0" anywhere in my conf.ini file.
My Cahce folder in Paint Schemes is completely empty.
I am using sound mod 9.2 and I have the latest wrapper.dll installed. What am I missing here :?:

Well "ClearCache=x" is under "[game]" in your config, if its not there just add it.
Quote:[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=1
mapPadX=0.66875
mapPadY=-0.046875
viewSet=53
Intro=0
NoSubTitles=0
NoChatter=0
NoHudLog=0
NoLensFlare=1
iconTypes=3
eventlog=eventlog.lst
eventlogkeep=0
3dgunners=1
SubTitlesLines=4
ClearCache=1
TypeClouds=1

Thanks Madcat!! That is done. Now, there is a whole bunch of stuff in the cache folder!! I'll let you know how I made out.

Well, it worked like a charm....sort of. I now have a beautiful 1943 skin of a USN Corsair as the default skin. BUT, I still have to keep the "Markings" turned off
Am I chasing my tail here? I have changed the GB01 to USA01 like so:
F2A-2 air.F2A2 1 usa01 DESERT
F4F-3 air.F4F3 1 usa01 DESERT
F4F-4 air.F4F4 1 NOINFO usa01 DESERT
FM-2 air.F4F_FM2 1 usa01 DESERT
CorsairMkI air.F4UCORSAIR1 1 NOINFO usa01 DESERT
F4U-1A air.F4U1A 1 usa01 DESERT
F4U-1C air.F4U1C 1 usa01 DESERT
F4U-1D air.F4U1D 1 usa01 DESERT
CorsairMkII air.F4UCORSAIR2 1 NOINFO gb01 DESERT
CorsairMkIV air.F4UCORSAIR4 1 NOINFO gb01 DESERT
F6F-3 air.F6F3 1 usa01 DESERT
F6F-5 air.F6F5 1 usa01 DESERT
I noticed that there was only a Summer folder to put those .tga's into. Should I have created a Desert folder for the F4U-1?? I thought about doing it, but then I scrolled down to the F4U-1D and it only had a Summer folder as well. What am I missing here, or is this the best it's going to get?

did you try adding the desert folder?
- VT-51_Razor - 27.01.2008
No, I didn't, but only because I looked at the F4U-1D, as well as a couple of other USN planes, and they only had "Summer" folders. I will try this when I get back home. Did it work for you?
