Is it posible to create a MOD where "The DOT" is removed and replaced with the last LOD that game uses before switching to that 2D little texture?
At this point when using high resolutions and antialiasing, anisotropic filtering the dots gets filtered out most of the time or they are simple invisible cause of their constant 4 pixel (2x2) size that is extremly small for big screens.
The size of the dot has another awful effect when the distance between you and the plane you are whatching varies up and down... you can see then the change between dot and 3D LOD very unnatural.
So... anyone has any ideea avout this?

I have this problem too. The H8K, for example, it changes from a tiny dot to a large, extended object instantly, it's terribly distracting.

Indeed.
The problem is getting worse when you see the whole switching of LODs... first is a dot or an invisible dot, then a "choppy" 3D LOD and then a more rafinate and "smaller" in appearance LOD so what you see is something like: "small"-"big"-"small" which is distracting like he11.
The dot solution was a nice ideea back then when computing power of graphic cards was limited but, now with a 8800GT dozens of LOD4 (I guess that is the smallest one) cannot make it caugh...
It should simply be a setting that would enable disable "DOT" use and when switched off the last of the LODs should be used instead till the whole plane is not seen anymore.
