Default maps with memory leak - Stanger - 04.02.2008

Could anybody take the maps with the memory leak and fix them. Like Midway have two buildings on top of each other. Total of four buildings and they are next to each other. Is it possible to move these four buildings and see if the memory leak has been fix. Thanks.

Hmm ok,

So, this "memory leak problem" is tied to two objects overlapping?

Is it advisable not to have two objects touching at all?

What else causes it?

Will make an alternate midway, hang...

- spud - 04.02.2008

I saw nothing overlapping on midway except quays and trees.

There are two buildings tthat collide with two others and thay are side by side.I will post a picture if I can.

It is located on the large Island on the left on Midway. If someone can change this we can test to see if this cause the memory leak and hopefully save some problems on future maps.

Thanks

You mean the 2 shack objects touching the hangers?

Many of the quay objects on that map also touch, as do some fences. Will try it tomorrow.

If overlapping objects were an issue, why not trees?

- Stanger - 04.02.2008

We are not sure at all trying to see if the map itself is causing crashes after 30 min to an hour. Looking to see if the buildings are causing it. Am getting error about buildings and not trees or fences only error in console with buildings are listed.

- spud - 04.02.2008

Ah, I see.

Will try tmorrow. What is the exact console error shown?

Some info on the water error I saw mentioned at the other forum...

This seems to be caused by a missing map_r.tga file. Some of the default maps have not got this file and produce this error. Give the map an 8bit grayscale image of 256x256 saved as map_r.tga and the error message goes away. Malta has not got this file and has the same error. I did as described above and no more error.

I don't know if I fixed that on my version of the Midway map......I'll have a check

I am very interested in the outcome of this "overlapping building" issue potentially causing memory leaks. I currently have many buildings on The Slot that do this, in order to provide some variety in building appearance, and have never had any issues with memory leaks. We will definitely ask the next round of beta testers to look into this.

- spud - 04.02.2008

Those errors are 2 of the concrete quay objects, NOT the buildings.

- Stanger - 04.02.2008

Ok thanks. It would be nice to have those objects moved or that error message fixed and see if the error goes away then test to see if the memory leak is fixed. Our squad uses SEOW and flys mostly in the Pacific would love to have the maps with problems fixed. Since we have campaigns and mostly 20 people flying at one time. Especially looking forward to the Slot. We are hoping that the Slot is not going to have this problem.

If I had the tools I would not be lazy and try to fix this myself. Since I do not I am at the mercy of the community.

Thanks
