War in Lapland 44-45! - kapteeni - 09.02.2008
Hi Everybody!
After looking all the marvelous maps i decided to make one too. Between 1944 and 1945 Finland had to go again to war. This time against Germany in northern parts of Finland. It Was called Lapin Sota (Lapland War). Now I want to make a map covering that area+ Northen NOrway and Sweden. I have tried some fiddlin with Photoshop some of existing modded maps, But i think i need some tutorial for microdem+photoshop and the tools to put them in FMB as a new map. :?: :?:

Is the existing Murmansk map useful for you or does it not cover any of the right area?
If it is useful it would be a quick job to extend the map south and west. You would be able to use all the existing Murmansk scenery initially, then gradually add your own details and alterations.
How about posting a map image of the area you want to cover.
There is a good tutorial by Clockwatcher on preparing a draft map_h using MicroDem on page 2 of the Tutorials thread here viewtopic.php?p=19588#19588
You will need map_c tools to prepare a basic map. Send a PM request to Fly_zo if you don't already have these.

That is all the reason you need --- Join the club.
It would still be interesting if you would post a map of the area you want to cover.
I think you can afford to go very large with this because the object density I think will be quite low.
--- but it is also possible to start with a smaller area and make it larger later.
If you do this it is probably better to prepare your microdem data for the large area and extract a section from it for your Phase 1 map.

The map above is just a reference from googlemaps. I want to concentrate to western part. There is sea and mountains. I`ve been hiking in the area since 1986. I have seen german airplanewrecks and treches. I send some real pictures from the area soon. In real airwar activity was quite low because of bad weather and lack of airfields. There were some small dogfights. So the campaigns for the 1944-45 map are semihistorical. Earlier, between 1941-44 there might been some serious airwar...

Any chance you could cover the Altenfjord/Kaafjord with this map?
It could then be used for Tirpitz campaigns as well....
