B-25D Field-Mod 'Strafer' beta - MAHA - 21.02.2008
Hi all!
This is my first beta of B-25D© field modification ('Strafer'). It replace your default B-25J.
I use B-25J as base because it can cary parafrags bombs. This plane and this weapon used by 5th Air Force in New Guinea campany. Real Strafers had 4-8 machine-guns, removed bottom turret and additional guns in tail section. My Strafer has moved/corrected B-25J guns. I think it's good compromise between historical accuracy and on-line game. And it's it's only way to do this field modification. For Today.
Big thanks
Monguse for his awesome skin.
BUGS:
I need correct cockpits. It will be fixed soon.

I have this installed, it seems to work alright, except that I don't get
Monguse' skin to display.
The skin1o.tgb file sits in my MODS/MOD_B25D_Strafer/3do/plane/ B-25J-1(USA)/summer.
Should I be putting this file somewhere else? How do I get it to display?
Oops, never mind.....choosing USA as nation solved it, it doesn't display as default for USSR, obviously! Duh!
Very nice mod, thanks!!

Question on your MOD - Mad_Max_63 - 25.02.2008
=S= Maha
Thank you for your hard work on this MOD, I wish I had your talent. I do have a question about it though.
According to my research the the 499th BS Bats Outa Hell flew B25-J's that contained
8-Guns in the end of the nose
2-Guns on each side in forward facing pods even with the cockpit
1-Gun each side behind the wing
1-Top turret (that could be locked facing forward for even more firepower)
and the tail gunner position.
I compared your MOD with the B-25J in just the 4.08 MOD and here's the difference I noticed
Your B-25J has
5-guns in the nose
1-gun on the co-pilot side sticking outward.
1-gun sticking outward each side behind the wing
1-top turrett
1-tail gunner position
The 4.08 MOD B-25J has
2-guns in the nose
2-guns in forward facing pods each side of the cockpit
1-gun each side behind the wing
1-top turrett
1-tail gunner position
As I said I don't know how to mod, so I'm not sure if this is something you can change or not.
Please don't mis-understand, I'm not criticizing your work, I'm trying to be helpful.
My information source is "The Aviation Factfile Aircraft of World War II" by Jim Winchester
I would be more than happy to try and scan the pages for you and email them if you would find that useful.
Keep up the great work!

It's supposed to be a B-25D, not a J.
The D had 4 guns in the nose, and 4 cheek guns.
Right now, the plane mods are VERY limited in what they can work on. You have to use the same number of guns as the base plane, and you must use parts of existing planes to do this.

BTW, the 499th deployed to Port Moresby in June, 1943, and they were equipped with B-25D (glazed nose) models. They converted to strafers in August.
They were flying D models til mid '44 or later.
