Hughes H-1B Racer-Laird Turner Meteor - Guest - 17.03.2008

Hello everyone
My dear friends, I wonder if someone knows this because of this beautiful aircraft ever have been operated by American air force, recalling that he has been a project that older B-239, Wildcat and P-36, but was still faster
And also ask if someone ja thought to build it for the I-L2

The Hughes racer was a private venture of Howard Hughes, and was never used by the US Air Force.

I know he never flew in the US Air Force, but you should know that the Bristol Blenhein also was an initiative of the private sector!
And I would like to know if there was some point in the interest of the US Air Force for this project

I understand your love of that really good looking aircraft, its a beauty... But this is a combat sim, and I hope the modders are improving our existing aircraft or making new combat worthy aircraft..

OK , so the air racing guys are still a bit "anti", maybe this would woo them over

There's quite a strong following for aerobatics too; so Il2 is not that one dimensional. Perhaps one day we'll even get a Pitts and an Extra as well as the Lancaster etc.

IMO if someone has the skill and wants to model a particular AC - then why not?
Perhaps we'll start seeing some WW1 stuff now the good news on new slots is out.

I agree with Fisneaky. Its a bit shallow to say that the modders are only improving the existing aircraft merely to improve combat excitement. I would not at all be averted to a Hughes Racer Big Grin

Right.. read my post correctly. I stated that I 'hope' the modders are improving and producing a combat range of aircraft! That is my take on modding for IL2. I'm not into air racing, and I'm definately not into any of the IL2 46 fantasy crap either!
Nothing 'shallow' in that statement at all..

IAR anyone?

Yeah, but there are plenty of people out there who like to use the IL2 engine to its full potential to do things other than simply killing each other.

- Trooper117 - 20.03.2008

I can understand that.. Each to his own and all that.. plus we are allowed to express our opinions, whether for or against a subject matter..
However, you telling me I'm 'shallow' just for expressing my own opinion is not warranted..

I like it and there is always solution for everything.
I mean we could chop heads with propeller blades Tongue
