Random slowdown? - Metatron - 08.04.2008
Lately my game randomly slows down, but the strange thing is that it doesn't seem to be dependent on the number of planes, objects etc.
For example I might be on a map with 20 aircraft flying, and everything will be running smoothly,
and other times the game goes into spastic mode when I'm flying on my on, on the Smolensk map in QMB.
Any ideas what's to blame?

Could be a background process. I always run FSAutoStart before playing a sim to many background processes.

Hi, I've downloaded this program but don't really now what i'm supposed to leave running, i'm a bit ignorant on this LOL.
Could you please put a list of what you DO leave behind?
Thanks.

Any thing in the list of processes that FSAutoStart indicates is important to internet connection, network connection if you are running a router, or is marked as critical-leave running should be left running. Everyone has different software on their computer, so a comprehensive list of what can be turned off is pretty much impossible. I simply Googled the processes about which I was unsure to see what they were and if it was safe to turn them off. Yes, it's a time consuming project, but well worth the effort.

I might asK you a few more questions once i've dealt with this but what you've mentioned above is quite basic & understandable, i should manage LOL

Stop only one process at a time in FSAutoStart. That way, should your computer stop functioning properly, all you have to do is reboot, go back to FSAutoStart, and undo the last stop you placed on that process. Far safer than editing the Windows registry or startup menu.

There is a newer program by the developer of FSAutostart called AlacrityPC, works very well.
For info on disabling processes try:
