Are there mods that you can have installed and fly Online? - nearmiss - 19.04.2008

I realize you cannot fly with mods on most servers, unless they allow mods.

Is it possible to fly with any mods on a server that doesn't specifically allow mods?

By this I mean, what difference would it make if you had Map mods pre-installed?

I think there are plenty of things that wouldn't change anything, but then I realize some of the most innocent appearing things can possibly be a cheat.

I guess what I'm saying is... is there a specific type of mod/s that isn't a problem for online?

Try this: (The link is inoperative)

Can cause problems in coops with the player seats getting shuffled.

It would be nice to know if we can apply some mods to our IL2 and still fly Online.

What would be allowed or not allowed?

Would the sound mod be allowed?

Would some of the graphics candy be allowed?

Would 6DOF head tracker be allowed?

Would cockpit mods be allowed?

Are you asking if they would be allowed on someone's server, or are you asking if they would work?

As long as the host has not set his game to check for differences (check runtime=2) you can use the sound mods just fine. If the host has any of the "new" aircraft available in the mission, then you can fly those too. Most of the "eye candy" mods, like cockpits, rear view mirrors, etc, etc, etc will not be seen by anyone else in the game unless they have it as well, but it won't affect your ability to use them.

I'm sure this hasn't answered all of your questions, but hopefully it's a good start.

I know that PacCon and GamingSA are both mod-friendly servers, incorporating modded aircraft into some of their missions.

Most of my question has been answered by VT_51_Razor

If I want to fly on a 4.08m server with some mods - that's all I'm basically asking.

Is it possible to use any mods on a 4.08m server? If so is there some way we could classify them to not make our 4.08m installation of IL2 incompatible.

What changes the Checkruntime=2

Nearmiss, allot of the DF servers in HL have a setting in their server that chacks to make sure that those who join are not using a modded version of the game. They just don't want anyone to fly on their server that isn't using a "pure" version. Thats fine. But if a guy hosts a coop, or DF server that does not have this setting, then anyone can join, modded or not. You will hear the new sounds, see you rear view mirror, the great new cockpit skins, new clouds, etc. If the host of the coop, or DF server has a modded version with new flyable planes available in it, then you can fly them as well. assuming of course, that you have those same planes downloaded and installed. If the host is using a particular new, or modded map, then you must have that same map to join. Is it starting to be clear now? Is this what you are asking about? All of this I am referring to is 4.08m of course.

Good news... Thanks for your reply
