right, wood is indeed good so here are some shots of my rather large fleet, some of these models are now retired but most are still airworthy, if anyone has questions about them please ask.

p.s i will be updating this album as and when i take new pictures so feel free to pop back and have a look.

- Forager - 21.04.2008

carosel43, those are some good shots.

RC is way out of my league.

Did you build all of them and have you ever lost any in crashes?

That would be a huge bummer after all that time building.

- carosel43 - 21.04.2008

forager, r/c flying is not out of anyones league, you might not be able to afford some of the bigger models but you should be able to get something, especially with the park fly aircraft that are about these days (i will be starting a thread on this soon btw) as for the models i built them all from kits, little bits of wood and foam glued together in the vague shape of an aeroplane, they were then covered in heatshrink covering and then painted or flown in the colour of the covering. the only exception to this is the harmony (see pics) thats an ARTF or Almost Ready To fly and basically you get 2 wings, a fuz and tail etc etc all built for you, you just have to arrange them and fly!

as for crashes i have been lucky, i am good enough to now not crash to many planes, the wayfarer has had the most accidents but its always been an easy fix, but eventually you are glueing the glue and its time to move on. my biggest loss has been the big mustang on that album, i bought it 2nd hand and spend 6 months and a few hundred quid tarting it up, adding retracts, flaps, new engine etc etc, i then flew it and had problems with the retract units coming out, i fixed that and got everything perfect, then on its 5th flight, the first with everything perfect the reciever in the aircraft failed, the aircraft rolled inverted and went into a 45' nose down attitude and went straight into a field from about 150-200 feet carving a trench 2 meters long in the ground, somehow the aircraft more or less servived and is now undergoing repairs

Set yourself up with a photobucket.com account, upload the images to there, and use the thing it gives you for the picture, and you've done it!

I'd love to see those!

- RAF_Magpie - 23.04.2008

I had wood once. Was fun for a while. Wink

But then there was a flood and destroyed it. I built it from plans for a aerobatic jobbie, and I managed to acquire some old second hand gear for it from england (step mothers father), so made it all the easier to do.

The design was rather cool, like a fictional take on a Edge 540... She was almost done too Sad

Stupid river.

- GentleKiller - 23.04.2008

- RAF_Magpie - 23.04.2008

Here's a little checklist for ya GK Wink

1) Is it turned on?
2) Is it charged?/Have Batteries?
3) Are the batteries IN it?
4) if there's a protective cover, remove it
5) is there film/or digital media card inserted?
6) is the card full?
7) try pressing the little button on the top Wink
8) if all of the above have been tried/tested/checked - Go to your tool's, get the LARGEST hammer you can find. And let rip Wink
