Ideas thread. - Fisneaky - 23.04.2008
Untill we can import new meshes we're stuck with what we've got for now for objects and buildings.
I started thinking of objects that could be used as basic building blocks and skinned accordingly for a "composite" -basic layout could be shared with "PFMW" (monkey wrench) library files and included in the DL of an Object set.
"Fortress Wall" and "Port Base" seem the most useful.
Cutting with Alpha Channel is essential for objects that are lowered to kill the shadow , but above ground it tends to make some background objects disappear behind the mesh. It would be better if parts of the mesh could be removed,( Wonder if Ranwers has any tips on this).
Would be good to have a "Watch office" style tower, amongst others.

Good Idea, Objects are an important part of bringing this sim to life. Last night ideas were flowing, but ok, I write them down tonite

What about the unique Ford Island control tower?

Very good ideas Fisneaky. Its really like lego land. I have to make that too.

what we need are appropriate sized fuel tanks, such as those at Pearl Harbor, or Wake Island, or Balikpapan, or Ploesti.
another good thing to have would be to take the top portion of the camo netting and making it 8 to 10 times larger, so we could camouflage factory areas, or large hardstands filled with A/C.
specifically i think of the Douglas facility in burbank that was camo'ed during the war

Helsinki Tower might work as fuel tanks, as for the nets - it would be easier to make netting from the large flat roof hanger obj. (See my Warehouse mod as example).
In the meantime WIP on composite object -

Nice one!
My request would be a late war, large camouflaged hangar for the Luftwaffe:
Complete with Rauchen Verboten.
Also: Landmarks such as Big Ben and London Bridge for Cannon's map.

Nice thread
A few ideas from me:
1. The new troop objects, could they be cloned a few times with different heights added to them, this could also be applied to other objects such as flak (flak towers
).
2. The destroyed model of static aircraft, is it possible the models could be copied or cloned & added to the objects list?
That's all I can think of at the mo , but I hope it lights a few bulbs

1. you should be able to do this yourself quite easily....just cut and paste in the static.ini file
2. not sure if stationary aircraft/objects can be imported into the Objects menu
this is done just with this...
[buildings.House$Human_06a]

MeshDead 3do/Buildings/addobjects/Human_06/dead.sim

You wait ages for a bus and then 3 turn up together.
Vehicles are possible as "Objects", which gives more scope for civilian stuff.
I tried imported a mesh from a ship , but couldn't get it to work as an object; so don.t hold out too much hope for static aircraft just yet.

your NAAFI wagon replaces the US Bus...how can we get it as an extra?
