Ships vs Carriers...Camera/Padlock properties? - Guest - 13.05.2008
Hi folks
I feel like I'm being greedy making another request, I'm still trying to absorb all the great new planes/maps/features, but this has been bugging me for ages in this sim:
Is it possible/does anyone know how to give some of the characteristics of an aircraft carrier/runway to a ship?
What I want to do, is to be able to padlock a ship as I would an aircraft.ground object. It would also be great if ships, either all, or maybe just certain ones, had their own camera, like a carrier.
I know the possible implications: maybe having to hit Shift/Ctrl F2 a gazillion times to cycle through every unit...but for mission/campaign/movie-makers, it could be really useful for maritime missions, where your targets might be ships exclusively.
I've always found not being able to padlock a ship very disappointing in IL-2...
So, any takers? :?:
Might it not be something simple (as I suspect), or a bit more complicated.... :?

You can padlock ships ... you just have to be really close to them. Actually, I don't know why it is, but the range for padlock seems less for ships than for vehicles, which makes no sense at all but is exactly what I would expect from UBI ...

Ok, let me rephrase the question correctly:
Is there any way to padlock a ship from IN-COCKPIT, as you can aircraft, and ground units?
:?: :?: :?:
...and while we're at it, increase the padlock distance to ships?

Sorry mate, you were not specific, and I am a litteral kind of guy. Also, the roll eye was not meant for you, that was directed at UBI / 1C.
Sorry for any confusion.
But basically I agree. I am not entirely sure if you can padlock ships from in cockpit, but me thinks no ... so your correct. I hope this can be modded and that it is not hardcoded.
