Recticle on/off possible? - Uther - 17.05.2008

I asked this a long time ago but don't think it was possible then. With the recent advances here is there any way to make this mod? Being able to turn the gunsight on/off as in real life would be great.

Just to be clear here, Uther, are you talking about while in-cockpit view(cockpit on)?
And not while in WW view...?

- Metatron - 17.05.2008

That would indeed be nice...

- mayestdo - 17.05.2008

`Yes, Uther is right. One of the things real WWII pilots could do was to switch On/Off the reticle. I've been wondering too if this could be done.

just a suggestion, howabout something to aim wth while in external
not sure if this could be a cheat but other flight sim games have this
so if it's legal mod then plz tell me howwa do this

Sorry, panzer1b, I can't agree on that one. It would indeed be a cheat, as well as being highly unrealistic. Remember, this is not 'other flight sims'........this is IL-2. A world leader in its class, IMHO.

In cockpit view.Having the recticle on all the time s very unrealistic.

Such a mod would be a really immersing one... starting the reticle light bulb would be like flipping the safety switches on a bomber.

Speaking of which... how about a open bombs-bay doors command? Tongue

- Guest - 18.05.2008

Well guys, this thing was never modeled in IL-2,so i think that it's practicly impossible.
Maybe it can be added on the 109's as a replacement of the tinted reticle window, but i won't sacrafice it ever.

- GentleKiller - 18.05.2008

maybe if the mod is possible we can use the reticle dimmer key shortcut to turn the reticles off

- Catahoulak9 - 19.05.2008

I'd love to see this too.

It's possible to cycle through reticles (on,off, and size) for the gyro sights. It seems like it would be easy to adapt this feature to the non computing types.

Size? The sights were set on the ground at a certain size. OTOH aircraft did have various rheostats, a kind of dimmer. One was used for the gunsight bulb and one was used for the cockpit instrument lights.

The K14 gunsight reticle size is adjustable for different enemy aircraft and distance. What I was suggesting was since there already is programming allowing changes to the reticles for the gyro sights, then maybe it could be adapted to allow a simple on/off for the other gunsights.

this isn't bad idea .... if there can be added one more step in wingspan options ( off ) and same routine applied for all planes cockpits ....

of course, additional reticle.tga's needs to be added ( just blank alpha channel )

.... i believe that must go via buttons file so one of the gurus would know for sure

cheers

I think is a great idea fly_zo, any master around here? Smile
