Bf-109 F/G Trop filter. - Guest - 07.06.2008
Hi guys,
just wonna let you know that i'm working on creating a sand filter for the Bf-109 Friedrich/Gustav series.
Also i'm working on FW-190 V-18,but untill we release the 190,it'll pass a looong looong time.
If i don't meet any problems while creating the sand filter,it should be ready in ~5 days. And i'll talk with Jolly, and see what he thinks about it.And is it possible to get it into the game.
Than we'll only need new a/c slots for bf-109 F-1/2/4 and G-2/4/6.
Now guys,what i need is:
1-I have some drawings of the filter, but they're not what i need!
There must be views from left,up and forward sides and i have only from the left side, and not as accurate as i need it.
2-I need as much info as possible on the performance of the Tropicalised 109's.
Somewhere i've readed that the tropical 109's were downgraded and set at 1.3 ATA max RPM,otherwise they were about to overheat at those big african temperatures...But that's not all that i need
.
Thanks.

GREAT NEWS!

Great news !!
Can you adept the filter from "Staff Mixer" Lerche ?
Or will you create new one ?
Must it be new Slot for BF 109, or could you add it under "Weapons"-Cathegory ?
(BTW: Whats up with He-111 Cockpit Reskin ? In one post you sad, it is finished...right?)
Sorry for so many questions. Good Luck Mate.

Hi Renmik,
i'm going to create a new one.
And i'll talk with Jolly what he things about it,and what he'll suggest.Because i guess that he's the one that will be able to import it ingame.
I guess that each 109 that had the sand filter (bf-109 F-1,2,4 and G-2,4,6) must have it's own slot.Because when applying this filter on the a/c's,this mean that the overheating must be reduced a lot...Almost to the zero.Or with two words...FM change
.
The Heinkel is going well. We'll finnish it when we got more free time
,hopefully soon.
(I said that it's almost ready   )

Oh wait, mate !!
The Filter has nothing to do with cooling the engine, afaik.
The big Problem in desert was, sand went over air intake into engine,
and the unfiltered Engine gets useless... (bad english, I'm sorry)
BF-Engine still was overheating quickly in African desert also with Filter,
but the Sand-Dust doesn't destroy the Engine anymore.

Ahhh,i see...
Thanks for the info guys...Almost forgot about the sand errosion
I've heard that the Trop variants of the 109's were with reduced max ATA (RPM),is that true?

You are correct, I visited the Museum in Germany, there was a text about limiting the RPM and Horsepower
Sorry for my bad English

Since the sand filter has two positions I believe it was only used on take off where the sand was worse or at very low altitudes I am guessing.

Who would have thought you guys would come up with a sand filter mod! 8)

And so we'd need some way to animate that.... :?

Yes, like the engine goes creaky after takeoff when you don't close the sandfilter beforehand.
And maybe under a certain altitude, like 50 meters? Would be reasonable.

We have other planes in the game that have filters fitted, (Spits).. Are their FM's altered because of this? Or is it simply cosmetic?
