eliot,

your sounds are amazing.

heres a thought though, and it might involve something more than just a sound byte modification. I always wanted to have correct P-51 sounds in game, but i see a huge problem with trying to get a correct sound for the wind that howled through the ventral radiator. Our mustangs in game sound right ok with the engine, but that howl is just sadly lacking.

I wonder if it would be possible to have some sort of trigger in the planes engine / sound / whatever that allows this howl to be heard at certain speeds. Or if it would be possible to have "a 2nd engine" in the plane that is hidden and produces no thrust or alters the FM in any way. its just on and the only sound it makes is that howl. kinda like how the wingtip engines are triggered to work on the BI-6

Im just an idea guy, so I have no idea if this is even possible, but it sure would add to the immersion of flying a mustang.

heres a decent example

thanks again for the great work!

Something like the Dive Sounds perhaps? or WEP sounds even...?

yeah, could be something like that.

aghh, got my attention on this one. Avid mustang flyer. i noticed the howl between 1.21-1.24, nice. now adding an extra engine may cause problems, now you can add an extra sound to the engine like wasy has done and i also modified for the dive sounds on all aircraft. now if there is an howl .wav file that can be created maybe someone or my self can have a go at this. it may affect the dive sound, but that only come on at around 370mph IAS below 10,000ft and 280mph IAS or so around 25000ft, i cant remember exactly, now the Scoop howl should be heard before the dive sound so perhaps have that start around 360 mph ias perhaps for a flyby, as the p-51D wont do that level on the deck but the mustang mkiii will, so have it start at 370Mmph IAS, external sounds only so you cannot always here it on the inside and only sounds when you are going fast. maybe annoying though when high, the game sounds in the PRS go on KMH TAS. i can have a play with this later if i can get the sounds.

The dive sound that i did. (original from janes) when you are in the cockpit sounds like a good scream, on external it is the same, but in a high speed fly by it sounds more like a low pitch howl. having two sounds then come on at high speed, either one will be like a dive sound. maybe have the dive sound for internal and a howl for external or both for external, the dive sound having primary and the howl being a subtle hint that you can here as is wizz's past. what do you think. Get the lab coats on and experiment.

so you can have multiple tracks playing at once for the external sound?

that could be interesting indeed
