Sound mod possible? - ultraman - 25.06.2008

I haven't the skills or knowledge for such a thing, or maybe it already exists, but I am wondering if it's possible to mod more realistic delays in sounds.

For instance, if I see a plane crash hundreds of yards away from me, I wouldn't hear it simultaneously. Does anyone know if it's possible to mod sound traveling realistically?

I think youre going too far with realism .
I dont know nothing lol but thats my thought.
Lets wait for the experts reply

that sort of dynamics (or one could argue physics) is outside the realm of possibilities with the current engine I would have thought...

However, you could perhaps put a physical delay in at the beginning of the specified .wav file to kinda of simulate, or rather, fake, the effect...

Perhaps I am taking it too far with realism, but just thought that if it was possible it would be a nice thing. I don't remember what I was playing, maybe one of the silent hunter games, where 'speed of sound' was either integrated or modded in.

Obviously it would entail setting a delay based on range, but if it's not within the scope of this engine, I'm ok with that.

The .wave file idea isn't so bad, of course it would be weird if you were right next to an explosion and couldn't hear it for a second.

In any case, I'll take it as is. Loving this sim right now.

silent hunter uses a completely different sound engine, in il2 i dont think it is possible
