Joystick problem: shaking - reflected - 28.06.2008

I click on calibrate joystick, and as I move it around, the little cross doesn't follow it smoothly, but it shakes violently..i.e. I move the stick frward, and it shakes to the left like hell...
What's that? Can it be fixed? If not, should I buy the same type of stick, or it is not normal after a year of hard usage? It's a Speed link black widow, and I love it btw. If I had to chose another one it would be the Saitek aviator.
So what's this thing?

I have the same joy. Try to set Filtering to max and Dead Band somewhere above one half, to invert the joystick upside down and shake it before each session. It works to my joy, perhaps it will work to you, too.

Thanks! How do I set filtering? Which number is it in the conf.ini?

Also, what have you heard about Saitek aviator? do you recommend it?

In the Main Menu go to Hardware Setup - Input - in the window on the right side you will see Dead Band and Filtering slides.
Don't forget to shake the joystick in the upside down position, it removes the carbon dust formed in potentiometers, I suppose.

OK, but I have a rudder, and in the menu I can only adjust those, not my stick, so I have to go in conf.ini :?

Do you have another rudder than that which is on Black Widow? Then I cannot give you any advice, since I have only the joystick.
For some hours I shall not be connected, so long..

Yes, I did! I set filtering to 40 on x and y (all of them), and it seems to work now. Thanks! Smile
