Cloning FMB recon and objective bubbles. Possible? - Bee - 29.06.2008
Please forgive me if this is an impossibility, I'm 12000km from my own computer and unable to investigate this myself for the moment.
What I'm hoping to discover is whether it is possible to clone and modify those FMB markers that deliver a Hidden/Primary Target Complete hud message and change them to display a number of pre-prepared messages that mission builders can use when putting scenarios together.
A few serving suggestions might be various generic course and heading messages. More speecific ones giving messages about incomming aircraft or mission goals etc. This would help greatly to add immersion. Especially if I could add a message for just about every occaision.
While we're brainstorming, a more ambitious one could replace the text command and instead use a load-new-mission command (would need to be name specific probably) that way you could say, take off from Kyushu, form up and fly south until you hit the modified recon bubble that automatically loads the next mission - bypassing the usual briefing screens. Presto! The new map just happens to be Okinawa.....
All insights welcome

aren't target icons on map ( mission) sort of trigger for that kind of messages ? .... so i would look at that for first approach ( cloning....)
cheers

Yes that's a nice immersion idea, no idea if possible or to which extent...

Janes WWII fighters had a logic box on way points reached in its FMB
Example: Display text "Ok 5 minutes to target" then awake White flight
So the user could enter a text message and/or a sleeping AI object would come to life.
It was a pretty cool tool for its time and I'm surprised we have not seen something like it since.
You have a great Idea and it would be fantastic if it could be done.
