Depth of Field - MICHOO - 29.06.2008
We have a HDR mod and dynamic light mod probably will be created, so I wonder, is it possible to create depth of field effect ?
Just a question to Mod Magicians.

This is good example from ArmA 2
or this from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky

Not without heavy programming and engine code changing.

It is too bad

But lets be honest, visually for screen shots is the only practical effect of this mod.
Currently the DoF is set at maximum, so your cockpit is sharp, as are the dots that become aircraft, all nice and sharp to look at.
If you had DoF at say an aperture of 2.8, the cockpit as you look around would be nice and sharp, but anything outside would be a blur, so you'd never see anything other than a blurred image outside the cockpit.
Even in External views, again, nice effect for Screenshots, but practical play, again, everything would be blurred...just saying.
But for SS, certainly would be nice, I do it with Photoshop though
Cheers, MP.

Now, if someone comes with a software that knows where you are trying to focus by analising your (let's say) eyes via a webcam or something and shifts the focus by that... it would be a bit practical... for realism and atention helping...
till then... screenshots
