Possible to change the 'speckled' debris when plane gets hit - Mysticpuma - 01.07.2008

After seeing the many effects changed by some of the talented guys out there, I wondered if this was at all possible?

When you're following a plane and hit it with bullets or cannon, you see that grey/black speckled confetti, and when you get near it, you can see that it really is a very low quality piece of work, it looks horribly false and 'blocky'

Is it at all possible to change the debris field to add variable size to the debris, smoother and blurrier textures, as when the debris approached the plane it would be nice to make it appear out-of-focus, therefore blurrier?

In all just to make it look visually nicer?

Just saying what pops into my head, cheers, MP.

The cannon and debris question came to me at the same time....Great minds think alike Wink

the textures that are used for the sprites that make up the "confetti" can be found if you extract the .sfs files. They're in the effects folder, and they're named something like debris1bmk1.tga. Just ectract the files and then use windows search to find them.

Jay, while you understand what you mean, at the moment, modding is beyond me.

But, if you see that debris close-up....man it looks just awful...any takers on enhancing the debris?

Please Wink

Cheers, MP.

Which .SFS file is it? There are many in the root directory.

- Jaypack44 - 08.07.2008

Sorry, I guess I should have been a little clearer. basically, to make a mod, you use the sfs extractor from AAA to extract the game's files. Then, you find the file you want to modify, edit it, and then create a folder in your MODS folder with the name of your choice. then make new folders inside that one duplicating the ones that the original files were in.

for example, to make a mod for the debris, you would make a folder called something like "new debris" in your mods folder. then, you would make a folder inside that called "3do", another inside that called "effects", another inside that called

Jay if you do get the chance, anything would be better than what there is now

Ignore the popcorn flame effect (another mod which has now been fixed) but the debris speckles....GAH!

Anyway, hope you get to try, cheers, MP.
