Taxiing from hangars - Tigertooo - 01.07.2008
Is there a MOD or is there interest and is it possible for some one to make a MOD for the following:
Take off is only possible from the icon at one or the other end of a runway.
Even if one brings his plane-icon into a hangar,the take off place is still the end of a runway.
I think it would be nice if one could start his engine in a hangar, nearby the tower etc...and then taxi to the runway of one's choice.
I would like to help someone but i don't know anything of programming :?

If you look at my versions of the Hawaii/Pacific Islands/Midway maps you will find I have added extra icons to allow spawning in a hanger or in a blast pen
You need to use the Maptools FMB and add them...but this will become a new map
The planes will spawn exactly 1km behind the red arrow (seen with the FMB+ too....and using the grid to place correctly)

FABIAN is right.
When you create a map, each builder should to place extra icons to take off from parkings.
I do that for my Normandy 1944 Map.
Each Oleg Map easily could be modified like that.
But these icons only work for human player, not for AI.

The only other alternative...... is for a map to be used on-line and without AI ONLY
Then you just need to remove all the airfield icons/taxiways/parking ways/runway ways etc. using the maptools FMB...and then the mission builder can place a/c to be spawned anywhere on an airfield...not just in predetermined places by the icons
Human pilots only with this method....and all fliers need a copy of the same map

Yes, but it is a very restrictive solution.
For me, it's better to add new icons only for humans than remove all. But you can't place aircraft like you want.
With NO icon, you can make all you want, but impossible to correctly use AI.
AI will have to take off (one by one) but no land ....

Disregard my last post, I have found it. But now I do not know how I can place these icons with the red arrows.????? I mean. If I wanted to put a hangar of my own and then spawn from it....how can i place the icons with the red arrows?? help very appreciated. Thanks. :wink:

sorry....you can SEE the red arrows with the FMB+ ...but not add/alter/move them....you need the Fully unlocked MapToolsFMB for that ....in the map builders tools section
when you place them as spawning points the plane will actually spawn exactly 1 km. behind the direction the arrow is pointing... as here

you are in effect creating a new map......or actually changing the actors static file....so you need to follow all the procedures for doing so
