Idea for winter maps - BERSERKER - 02.07.2008
You can make a MOD, so that on maps, typically winter, for example Moscow or the Gulf of Finland, does not appear all trees, always snowy, and all rivers and lakes frozen.
In my country, do not occur as snowfall like in Finland or Russia, but in my humble opinion, the snowy trees remain a few days after the snowfall, after only the soil and maybe roofs retain snow.
In these photos can be seen, despite being snowed all, the trees, are not.
Regarding the frozen water, because we all know the history of Lake Ladoga, and its road ice, which saved Leningrad.
But I wonder if all the lakes and rivers of Russia and Finland, remain frozen so long.
Most of these photos are from Finland, Sweden and Russia, and they can see very snowy landscapes, but with liquid water, even small amounts of water.
I have a campaign Kurland (who is not the author) where the land is as I say, all snowy, but with green trees and rivers of liquid water.
Of course, after the first heavy snowfalls, everything will remain snowy, and perhaps the rivers frozen, but we can not make the ground evolve (in long campaigns) and become more green and water is liquid again? ?
Other suggestions would be that the snow was "soiled" in combat zones, and the roads appear darker, a mixture of mud and snow.
These are only suggestions, and I do not know if it will be very difficult to perform, or if you are in agreement,
Sincerely greetings

This is exactly what was done for the modified Ardennes map-green forests and open lakes and streams, but snowy landscape.

I am not a modder, so as not do this.
I know there are maps, such as the Kurland that I have or that your comment Ardennes, who are said to like me.
From my point of view, it would be interesting to map Moscow and the Gulf of Finland, which are where most blows with snow.
But I do not know if we need to change those maps specifically, or you can make a MOD for this "evolution" of the land happens in all maps

I don't know how to mod maps either, but I think one would have to alter each map individually, changing the terrain textures that are used by the map when it loads.
- BERSERKER - 02.07.2008
From my point of view, the most realistic, is that after the onset of winter, with heavy snowfalls, everything will be snowy and frozen, and that after such a month, appeared more green vegetation, and the rivers and lakes liquids .
Perhaps it can not be done, but the truth is that it is not very realistic that everything stays white and frozen for so long, besides being very monotonous

Yes
New forest textures, and how about some autumn ones, with the big leaves color variation? Hm, maybe not so easy to make that such that the tile repeating pattern doesn't show :?

Very good! We are not asking much. This is even better

Or that on my CRIMEA Winter map :

Very good job LAL-Rone.
But suppose that your map of Crimea in winter, can only be used if you do with a specific campaign.
In my humble opinion, what would be really ideal, if it could be, would be to start a campaign DGEN or DCG, when winter arrived, the landscape of the map, for example Crimea, first appeared completely snowed, and then, evolve, something like what you have in your map
Again, I do not know if this could be done
Anyway, well done mate  .
