Tupolev SB-2 Nose Gunner? - AIRdomination - 02.07.2008
Is it possible to play the position of the nose gunner of the SB-2? Why was this left out?

Umm...this has nothing to do with what I asked? :? I'm talking about the NOSE gunner and WHY we can't play in THAT position...all others work fine.

Well the thing is that upper and nose gunner are the same person. So when foe is on the six the gunner will go to the upper machine gun, and if the foe is on 12 o'clock he will be ready in the front machine gun.
I think this is the thing.
But, ur asking if the gunner could be animated also in the frontal turret.
That I don't know. The fact that this one person, hardly.

In the link, he was talking about the top gunner and ventral gunner, NOT the nose gunner. The nose gunner is a completly different person. And as for switching where the gunner goes..it already works beacsue we have positions in both upper and ventral gunners.
Why the nose gunner is not animated? Is there a reason?

Jolly posted the answer to this on the SB-2 cockpit download thread:
"Please Note there is no front gunner position due to axis problem (Ai control only) + the glass canopy sliding back & forth animation for top turret is not visable with this mod for the SB-2M-100A ...we thought the position would be better than none at all"
If you look at the front position it is fairly unique. Both guns traverse the vertical through fixed slots in the front perspex. They have only limited rotational travel around a hinge point - one for each separate gun. This is not a turret, just a gun position in which the guns move up and down and from side to side like the arms of a parallelogram. Gunner viewpoint might be hard to arrange.
