Rufes ashore - BERSERKER - 04.07.2008
This happens to me, flying DGEN campaign, in Palau with the USN.
This is a MODs problem or a DGEN problem???
The behavior of the aircraft is erratic, I suppose that by being on land instead of water, taking turns over and over again :?: :?: :?:

Are you sure you are using DGen and not DCG ... ? It makes a difference.
This is a campaign problem ... if it is DCG I can tell you how to fix it ... if it is DGen ... not so much.

Thanks for the response
It's a DGEN campaign
If an issue of this campaign specifically, I am not too concerned, fly another campaign, though I hope that the Rufes are in the water

When you wanted the Rufes to spawn on the water, if you wanted them to spawn close to an airfield, then they will automatically revert to spawning ON the airfield.
May I suggest you try giving them take-off points at a different location, one more FARTHER from an airfield. It should work. If not, use Test Runway 4 as a combination treat.
Cheers.

it is DGEN, he isn't giving anything....
never experienced that myself though. "sitting ducks" come to mind
is it your own flight or the enemy?

I guess its a dgen campaign design problem, rufe shouldnt be selectable but should have its own dgen sub campaign

Many thanks for the resposes guys
They are the enemy flight, but never to attack something as pitiful as those planes, struggling to emerge from the earth :|
The exact location is the Pelelieu airfield

The way I would fix it in DCG is to change the airfield that the rufos are based at ... is this possible in DGen. Me thinks that is all you need to do.

DGEN is completely different in how it works than DCG, this stuff is not editable there. Must be an error within DGEN.exe.

You can edit the PacificPlanes.dat file ( in the Dgen folder ) to make Rufes airstart. But if you want to fly a Rufe in the Rufe special campaign you'd have to change it back. Make sure you don't edit the PacificPlanes.txt, it has to be the dat version file. Anyway open it up in notepad, then find the line for Axis, Japan A6M2N. At the very end you'll see a "1", change it to a "0" instead and then the Rufes will airstart. There are four separate lines for the Rufe, change all to Zero.
One thing, I don't recollect if this will work retroactively in a current campaign or whether you will have to start all over from scratch to get it to work. You'll have to try it. If you never wish to fly a Rufe campaign, just leave that a Zero at the end and you'll be all set.

Dgen is far more editable than DCG ever was. There are literally thousands of edits and tweaks you can do in Dgen to change stuff. So if you don't know what you are talking about, don't act like you do. Oh, and it's not a problem with Dgen.exe at all. It's a script problem is all. That particular aircraft should be eliminated form the associated DB file for the Palua sub-campaign. Or made to airstrat like I just posted above. Problem is Dgen was originally not intended for floatplane campaigns. That's the basic problem.

Ok, I just tried with the EuroPlanes.dat for my eastern front P-47 campaign. And the very next mission
me and my flight all airstarted. All I did was change the ones to zeroes. So the change will take affect when the next mission generates after you make the edit. So much for Dgen being un-editable! So you don't have to start your campaign from scratch after all.

don't get to me like this mate.
this particular problem, AI planes using a base which they should not is exactly one thing that can be edited in DCG and not be edited in DGEN, you have no control which base the AI squads use.
with your workaround you are correct.
- Fearfactor - 09.07.2008
Well in the case of not controlling what bases AI spawn at, you're right. With Dgen there is no control here. Starshoy did not anticipate a day when they would be flyable float planes so he didn't thnink about that. But I am wondering ( in the case of my airstart fix ) if any surviving AI Rufes would try to land at the land base!??! Probably would!! So it's only a partial fix. Would be funny to see what happens in this case. I think I am going to set it up just for laughs.

I have installed the last Enjoy Patch, from M4T, and the problem persists ...
I'm not very assiduous in this forum, someone else usual, could report this error there :?:
