A Hypothetical... - Horton - 10.07.2008

Who would be interested in a hypothetical Pearl Harbor Mission/ Campaign? I was thinking of creating a mission and perhaps a campaign based on this:

(please note that I will have to do research for names, events and terminology for 1940's pre-war US Armed forces)

----INTRO TRANSMISSION:------------

December 6, 1941:

From Secretary of War Department:

In preparation for looming war in Europe and Asia, the Department of War is ordering the Pacific Fleet Command to proceed from Pearl Harbor and form battle groups for war games. The US Army command at Pearl Harbor will perform training starting Sunday, December 7, at 05:00 hours. Further orders to follow.

The Pacific Fleet will depart Pearl Harbor no later than 21:00 hours Dec. 6, and proceed to rendezvous with the Carriers making their way east.

The Following ships will rendezvous with the carrier Saratoga:
X, Y, Z

The remaining ships will remain outside Pearl Harbor and the Army will provide air cover from the ground, testing Naval effectiveness against ships and ground targets covered by land-based fighters and bombers, as well as gun emplacements.

December 7-10 will be the war games; December 10-12 will be gunnery practice, battle drills, and arial gunnery for the USAAF and USNA.

Signed,

Sec' of War john doe

-----------MISSION BRIEFING:---------------------

(P-40 Campaign/Mission)

Gentlemen,

This morning's training mission of the second wave against the Blue team has been suspended. As no doubt you all know by now, the first wave of Army attack planes with no ammunition was attacked this morning by a Japanese fighter Group. This occurred fifteen minutes ago. The planes of the first wave have, for the most part, been shot down or made emergency landings at other fields. The Japanese have, according to reports, over a hundred planes headed this direction. Many are carrying torpedoes and are expected to hit our ships.

Flight crews are arming your machines now with ammunition. This is not a drill, this is the real thing. We've lost over 20 pilots already if initial reports are correct; let's go to work and avenge them.

OBJECTIVES:

Down enemy bombers and torpedo planes.

--------------------------------

The mission will start with Japanese planes directly overhead. Mission 2 would entail escorting a flight of B-17's to attack the Japanese fleet before they can escape.
