To mrJolly: EZ42 handbook - Metatron - 16.07.2008

I just found this, it may answer some questions about the reticle of the german lead computing gunsight, as some guesswork was involved in making the original mod.

Have a look! The original handbook:

Lovely! It looks a lot more complicated to use in real life than in the game.

I don't read German well at all, but thanks to Google translation I happened upon a section where it says to switch the sight on well before entering action as it takes 1.5 minutes to settle in!

It would be nice to have a translation if there are any keen German/English bilingual folks out there...

Could you tell me on wich page of that manual you read this? From the first pages i read so far, it seems more like the gyro takes 1.5 minutes to spin up to its 30000 rpm operating speed. Operation shouldn't differ very much from the K-14. I'll look through it some more, but if you tell me which page you read that on i could translate it right now. (Points to location Tongue )

- Klemm - 16.07.2008

Nevermind, found it. What you meant is on page 15, i'll translate it for you:
D. Handling in aircombat and targeting

1) Turn on the switch "Targeting Device"

Put the Revi-switch up

Notice that about 1.5 minutes are necessary to let the gyroscope spin up before the device is able to set the right deflection. So don't turn it on just before the fight!
Regulate brightness. On a night mission add the night filter.

I guess that was the section you meant. It was a bit confusing to me too, even though i'm German.

- Metatron - 16.07.2008

Any clues as to the operation? Is it more or less the same 6 'diamonds' system as the feranti site?

- Jaws2002 - 16.07.2008

i don't understand much german anymore, but I don't even think it has the 6 diamonds.

From those images looks like the ring is floating/adjusting. Am I getting this wright? :?: :?

- Metatron - 16.07.2008

That's what I thought too...

I hope someone can shed some light on the matter.

- JudgeMingus - 16.07.2008

It certainly looks like the whole ring is floating from the illustrations of how to settle the ring on the target ( Figures 3 to 8 ).

- Metatron - 17.07.2008

Just checking if the thread is still alive. Anyone interested in converting the original mod? 8)

- Zorin - 17.07.2008

Excuse the size, but on the lower right you can see the reticle ring; six diamonds:

- Metatron - 17.07.2008

Is that it? I encountered that image in the past and wasn't sure if that was what the illustrations was telling me.

Anyway no harm done if the existing mod is correct. 8)

What does the existing mod actually do?

Found it, this time the search function didn't let me down Wink
