What heppens when patch 4.09 is released? - timholt - 17.07.2008

If I load the mods i.a.w. VP Media's how to do it guide, I am assuming that when the actual V4.09 patch is released it will update the same as an un-modded version of the game?
Are my assumptions correct or is this an unknown??

We don't even know if it will ever be released! Personally I am a long way past 4.09 now, more like 7.09 with all the mods I have

I doubt that 4.09 will ever even be out anyways, since the team has moved away from IL-2 and onto SoW. Its so long since the beta came out, by now the 4.09 should've come out, and it hasn't for a while, So I'm assuming that's how it will be.

I would be more than happy if they just released the 4.09 dedicated server patch.

I have to agree. I don't think we will go past 4.09 beta. I think this is where it's going to stop at. It would be nice to get the server patch however.

IMHO , as soon as 1C needs to test some feature for SoW BoB they will release another beta for IL2

When/if final patch gets released i believe we will have "mod" version of it in no time ...

just my opinion

I agree with Fly_zo, the beta has been out a long time just to be a beta. Surely by now all the bugs have been found and likely fixed, if there was an intention to fix them. And Il2 has been a test engine for Storm of War for a while now, so again I agree that there will be another patch if 1C needs a public testing of a feature in Storm of War.

I wonder myself

If you think about the time frame... all of a sudden this site took off and the mods along with AAA 4.09 server that allows mods. Oleg may have decided to let us sink or swim. LOL

My personal experience tells me that they're probably waiting for somebody to have some time to do some work, dgen maybe...I'm sure that sooner or later the patch will be released. They probably think that we're doing ok with the beta and are busy with the mods Smile

Sometimes I think that we're expecting too much, which other game company provided years long support for their series like they did? Not many imho.

If they've decided to move on to BoB:Sow, then that isnt a problem for me, software developers must do this to stay on the top.

It is possible that 1C has abandoned all work on Il2. For a long time Oleg did all he could to stop people from modding Il2, now there seems to be no effort to halt the mods. Storm of War may be advanced to the point that it is not worth his time to even look at protecting Il2, stopping mods, or making patches. At any rate, I am enjoying the moded 4.09b and will continue to do so for quite some time.

Oleg left the building a very very long time ago.

Ubi and 1C have their sights set on consoles which will make them so much more money than the PC ever will, which is an understandable business decision. Pandering to the few "gimme free patches and I want this" fanbase makes no business sense at all. Can't you hear the crickets chirp?
