IL2 Will only load to 95% - slrman - 21.07.2008

I had loaded the Sound Mod program to 4.09b1m and was pleased with the sounds. But I was not as happy with the splash screen and everything for Pilot Career appearing in Russian. A fine language, I am sure, but not one that I can read even a little. The Splash Screen also showed Version 4.08M a little unnerving, to say the least. But things seemed to work OK.

So... I thought, well, I'll just reload the 409b stuff and the worst that can happen is I will lose the sound mod stuff and I can deal with that afterwards. But nooooooooo... Now the Splash Screen loads in English and says 4.09b1m, but stops at 95% and never completes.

Before I get drastic and delete everything and reload from scratch, is there anything I should try?

I have a solution that worked in my case.....I found that after patching with 4.09b ( and after adding some mods) IL2 only loaded to 95%. So, just for something to try I used the 4.08-4.09 mods on/off data file installers, which I found here ( probably in the patches section). It is worth trying as I've had to resort to this several times and it invariably works. Hope it does help

I tried dll files, .exe files and search for double button file but nothing helped.
I dont know what it is but I think it's not the mods but the 4.09b1m patch.

What I did is following:

I extracted all the mods I use, including Canons BOB map, the Spit MkI, the FW-190 A3, the Tempest 13lbs in correct order into an empty folder.
I wanted to zip that and upload so everybody can use it and make it much more easy to get everybody to the same standard.
Especially new ones who are not familiar with the mods at all.

Now I made a clean 4.08m installation folder and just dragged my mods pack over it.
I end up in: the game gets stuck at 95%.

What was that again? and how to solve

Make sure that you only have 1 "buttons" file in your game. If you do then maybe you need to reinstall the latest AC Installer. If this doesn't work then do this.
Delete the FILES and MODS folder and re-install the Unified Installer Patch. Then as you add your mods to the game but do it manually. 1 it will give you a better understanding of how these mods work and 2 if you screw something up you can just remove the last mod you did it at that time until you figure it out. Always make back-ups of the files you replace. Trust me this method may take a little longer but it beats the hell out of completely reinstalling the game over and over...Good Luck and try those earlier things I told you first .... :wink:


P.S. To manually install each mod just make a new folder on your desktop and extract the mods into it then start adding the components of the mod into the proper folders/files.

I checked my folders for the button file and I only have one.
I also reinstalled the latest AC installer 2.8 but it didn't help either.

I will do step by step as you recommended and then check after every step.

Hello and sorry if I didn't explain so well. Hopefully you have the problem resolved now, however just incase, It was the mod version switcher installer that seemed to resolve my game only loading to 95%, although I dont have the unified installer, I just used the file for patching the game to 4.09m....it possibly could help you also? The download contain for batch files for switching between differnt versions modded and unmodded. It is under the 4.08 Mods section: (The link is inoperative)

i had the same problem. i solved it by reinstalling all the mod downloads.

I had the same problem too, the game hangs at 95% after installing the 4.09 patch over a modded install.

For me the fix was to replace the il2fb.exe file with my original il2fb.exe. The il2fb.exe that was in my folder was from the sound mod, I had a copy of my previous il2fb.exe (No CD) so I put that back in and I am back to normal and the game loads 100%.
