please Please PLEASE!!!

I saw an excellent doco on early Jets on The History Channel and one thing I noticed was that they said the Brits could have had the Vampire combat deployed in WWII but the MoD gave it such a very low priority that it prevented this happening, plus it didnt help that the poms shipped the only engines for the Vampire at the time to the US for sharing. This prevented it flying before the Meteor. The RAF never likes to admit mistakes, but one thing is known by the people who flew both the Vampire and the Meteor is that the RAF had the roles arse about, the Vamp should have been used as the interceptor and the Meteor in the ground attack role. The RAAF had great success with the Meteor in the G/A role in the Korean War once it was obvious it was outclassed by the Mig15.

The 'poms'?.. Surely you mean the proms old boy..

- RAF_Leigh - 18.10.2008

well i say old chap Big Grin

it it wasnt it WW2 i see its a SORT of low priority the metor Which actully fly should be first then the vampire and Keroan jet

i don't see why we should go further into Vietnam but thats just me

- GeneralPsycho - 18.10.2008

I kind of wanting the meteor first then the 1946 stuff

- ILV_Aquila_Noctis - 19.10.2008

Hmm....there was a planned Focke-Wulf jet (never went farther than blueprints)....looking quite like the Vampire...could use her as a hack for that, and have a nice Luft'46 scenario....but I agree, WWII operationals come first.

- Hellzone - 19.10.2008

I had ideas for this a while back.

- vampire_pilot - 19.10.2008

I would absolutely love to see this plane made!

actually it might have been ready earlier then the Meteor but DeHavilland was already on their maximum capacity to fulfill the production demands for the Mosquito.

- RAF_Magpie - 19.10.2008
